I've been meaning to ramble here for something close to a week. I've been terrible at keeping any sort of diary for ages now, partly because nothing ever happens and partly because what does, I actually have someone to talk to about. So there's less of a pressing need to write it down.
But, hell, let's do that. (

I can't really help with the health thing, but I can at least give some suggestions re: the proposal? I mean, at least don't think that your work on the proposal isn't much at all. Because 1. You now have a fully fledged proposal/statement of intent, and the official channels can very be a formality that will be over in a week (in which case, if you can bring yourself to check your inbox and your professor hasn't replied, you could always ask, like, you know, Hi sir, if you've had a chance to look at the proposal yet, do you think it's up to standards? and if so, is there anything I should do to start the "official" proceedings?. Bc two weeks or more w/ no reply would legitimate your check-up, no worries)
And 2. If god forbid this Uni will be dumb and not take you, you could also try to send the proposal off to any Uni with a similar profile (with adjustments for location and so on, but adjustments are easier than starting all over). I've read it and a lot more proposals to boot, for comparison, and for what it's worth I can say it's good qual.
And well, maybe you can mention that you're on a deadline? That might help speed things up on their part.
Many, many, many hugs.

I think I'll give the prof. one more week before I poke him (and I'm trying to keep in mind that sometimes professors are just slow and that doesn't mean anything's gone horribly wrong).
As for reworking the proposal for another university, eh, I'm not so sure about that because the project was the professor's idea and area of expertise. (I just basically emailed him and went "Hi, I'm thinking of doing a PhD, could we work something out?" and he sent me a list to pick from.)
But I probably won't need to cross that bridge because everything will work out fine. *frantic nodding*
Thanks for the advice, though. I might try to mention the deadline again so the prof. gets a move on. (I did once back in October but yeah, couldn't hurt to mention it again.)
