Stuff I've been reading (Firefly unless stated otherwise):

On LJ

Niki nikiness's "Details of the War" and Jayne/River prompt series
eustacia_vye28's "Next of Kin"
earthwhatwere's "Never Saw Blue" and "Beauty and the Mess"
sevangel's "Slayers in Space" Firefly/Buffy crossover (with her "Crazy's Rescue Mission" to be read)

On fanfiction.net

Wickedambiguity's "Of Guilt, Sin and Apples"
RingPrincess's "A Might Unpredictable"
JossWhedonGirl's "Blue Sun" Firefly/Buffy crossover
Neroli's "Delta Rain" and "Delta Rain Torrents"
Jenny7's "How it all ends"
beautifool's "The Shiny Affair of Mr Pink"
Whistler84's "Surivivors" Buffy fic
Aeneas's "Some Kind of Crazy" Firefly/PitchBlack crossover

On their own site

http://www.firefly-tvs.net is what it says: a Virtual Season. (Just like http://www.buffyworld.com has a Season 8 Virtual Season). Rocks all sorts of socks.

Naturally enough, reading Aeneas's fic last night got me back into my Riddick-mode. So off I went hoppity skip to novafry's "Reason's Why Riddick" website when the internet screws me over once more. Why? THe site isn't there anymore. It was such a good site, too.

*scampers off to google innocently*

I've got some Riddick-fics from fanfiction.net saved that I'll have to check up on. But NO pics. Why, god, why? (Except I think I might still have those links K set me. One involved a kilt.)

In other news, they'll be airing Lost on Spanish television in April. Reading over a guy's shoulder at the train station, I saw that they described the show as "set in Hawaii". Maybe filmed in Hawaii, but I thought it was *set* in "Wherethefuckarewe, Middleofnowhere". Call me silly, but they're "lost", right? They're not lost IN the island, they're lost ON the island.

Oh, and yes, important news: Spain now free of armed terrorists. Yay! Now it's democracy for all, even ETA.

Another thing I've ben meaning to post for ages: I am deeply ashamed that Eto'o has been the butt of racist comments* whilst playing football. And not just once, either. The last time, though, he stepped off the pitch in protest, but was later convinced by fellow teammates to play. Now the host stadium has to pay a (non-enough) amount of cash and some other sanctions as well. Still, deeply ashamed for humanity.

Since Eto'o plays for Barcelona he is booed in every match outside the Camp Nou, Barças field. In some fields it is just because of its condition of rival. However, in many fields he suffers from racist attacks. Eto'o is not the only black player who is attacked, but he is one of the players who has risen his voice against these miserable hooligans. A nasty incident occurred in February of 2006, where Eto'o suffered from racially-driven verbal abuse by Spanish spectators during a match against Real Zaragoza. Apparently, fans began making monkey-like sounds and throwing bananas onto the field whenever Eto'o had possession of the ball. Deeply offended Eto'o threatened to leave the pitch in the middle of the game, but it was prevented by the quick intervention of his team-mates, including Ronaldinho, and the referee, who rushed to the pitch to calm him down. Even Ronaldinho, who is also black, said he was fed up of the sounds and that if Eto'o had left he would have done the same. Zaragoza was fined with 9000€ and Eto'o declared that wasn't enough and that La Romareda, Real Zaragoza's stadium, should've been closed for at least one year.

The incident sparked controversy as to the racist attitudes of Spanish football fans and more importantly, it opened a general discussion of racism in football. Britain has voiced its outrage at the incident, reeling from the English team's similar predicament during a friendly match against the Spanish national team on Spanish soil.

* Monkey hoots, mainly.
