Most gods throw dice, but Fate plays chess...*

...and you don't find out til too late that he's been playing with two queens all along.*

I'm still waiting on Fedex's delivery of my diploma (which was supposed to be here yesterday). I am not amused.

I don't get enough emails. Meaning, I'd like replies. One professor replied that he'd write me letters, but the other hasn't yet. And my Email of PRaise to LJ user neondaisies (I'd do the LJ linky, but LJ's being a jerk) has as yet recieved no response. Another email regarding a fanvid has been equally dismissed / ignored/ pigeon-holed. I also emailed an old highschool friend (-ish), who's Dutch, to have contacts in Ze Netherlands. Again, nothing, but not so surprised. (I know another Dutch girl, who I will email - soon, I swear - but am not holding out much hopes either.)

None of this really forgives my complete lack of doing anything yesterday in the postgrad area. Oh, sure, there was printing, but that's hardly enough. But I did stay in the office till 4 (instead of 2) looking at university stuff (mostly), then there was lunch to be made, and groceries to be bought, so I wasn't all that slack in my duties.

My evening was still spent reading, sìpping on a miniature bottle of Freixenet (i.e. Spanish champagne, which is called Cava). Well, not directly from the bottle - I haven't fallen that far that quick. I have this adorable set of metallic shot glasses, complete with their own little leather container and strap, so you can get drunk on the street. (Or wandering down an icy slope in Russia, armed with only a stout stick and a vodka bottle.)

Speaking of vodka, I bought, right cheap, Vodka by Boris Starling. I don't know why. Really, it has nothing I usually read. Crime, intrigue, mobs, city descriptions... If I were any sort of romantic, I'd read Vodka whilst drinking vodka. Why? A Polish restaurant in Montreal's Old Port has the answer:

Everything tastes better with vodka. Even vodka.

Also bought The Dice Man, about a man who decides to make every decision according to the roll of the die. Sounds like fun.

fox1013's started up a new community, bedtimeforlj, which, in her own words, is:

Baaaaaaaaasically, the idea is to read your favorite picture books, or selections from chapter books, or bedtime stories- whatever- in either an LJ phone post (which, if you have a paid account you can do 15 of, and if you have basic, you can switch to a plus account and record one- or, actually, up to six- and save it/them and then switch back to basic) or in some other way you have of getting MP3s or WAVs or what have you online. Then link it in the community, so that people can hear bedtime stories being read.
