#189--Read My Mind

Jul 28, 2007 20:31

I haven't said what I was really thinking, not truly, since I was a little girl. No one wanted to hear it. No one really wants to hear it, do they? Mothers don't want to hear that their daughters think Mom is too old for that dress and it would look so much better on their young body. Dads don't want to hear how much their daughters want Dad to notice them and they certainly don't want to hear about it when they'd rather the boy down the street notice.

Lovers don't want to know that you didn't get off this time. Or the last. And if they knew you weren't the least bit concerned about that, they'd really get bent. No man wants to know that you look at him and see only security or a way to the next, more secure partnership. No woman wants to know that, either.

Let them try to read my mind; they'll find that I don't even tell myself the truth much anymore. No real point.
