Fifteen year old Nicole Wallace sat on the front porch of her father's house and prayed that someone would see what went on in that house. Her mother closed her eyes to it, allowing her only daughter to become the true wife in the household. The answer to her prayers was Bernard Freemont.

Three years later she sat in a sidewalk café in Thailand with another long limbed blonde and prayed that there would be some way out of the family she'd joined. No real wives at all, just adjuncts to Bernard's monumental ego and tiny dick. Despite the illusion of freedom he'd given her, all there really was in that life was slavery to his whims and the need to support them all in high style. The answer to her prayers landed her in a Thai prison while he skated away.

After returning to Australia, a beautiful little girl tied her to a man who resembled the others she'd loved much too much for comfort and she prayed for a way to be free of his terrifying possessiveness. Release came in the form of a missing person report on her three year old and a new identity that took her to a new country.

Her haste in getting clear of her childhood home left her in a city that had no stake in protecting her and she prayed that she could find a way to protect herself. A thin piece of paper reading citizen was all that stood between her and safety. Then two deaths and finally a third meant she had to run again.

All her life Nicole Wallace prayed for a man who would see who she really was and want to be with her only because he liked looking into her eyes and sharing a laugh. In Detective Robert Goren she recognized a man who could have spent a lifetime laughing with her. There was no justice at all for her, not in this world.
