Well, it was 3:10 am Thursday morning and I was on my way home from work. I decided to take the South Street entrance and go West on 76 to Walt Whitman Bridge. I was going 65 in the right lane and there was a black SUV in the left lane about 3 car lengths ahead of me. I was watching the other cars going in the opposite direction on the other side of the highway and I thought to myself "What would it be like if they were oncoming in our lane heading straight for me. Well, don't you know a split second later I look slightly to the left of the SUV in front of me and I see headlights heading straight towards it. They both steer towards the center of the highway and BAM...a head on collision happens 3 car lengths ahead of me. Air bags go off, sparks and flames fly, and the SUV ends up teetering on top of the center median, I slammed my brakes on and ended up approx. 20 feet from the accident. The smaller car's engine goes up in flames and I instantly backed up to a safe distance. I then saw the driver of the SUV jump out and run in the opposite direction I was. I then jump out of my car and ran back to the guy behind me. I asked if he called 911 and I turned around and there were 2 cops trying to pry the driver's door open unsuccesfully. Then a third cop starts slamming his baton on the driver's side rear window but could not break it due to the heavy tint. He yells "Fuck" because the driver is laying in the front of a badly burning car. I then grabbed my tire iron out so that the cop could use the point of it to shatter the window which works. The guy was amazingly alive but I doubt he made it. I was the main witness so I was interviewed by 2 cops. After almost 2 hours they get us to turn around and drive off the University City exit. I was so glad to be home! I gave Angie a HUGE hug and kiss. If it weren't for that SUV, the car would have kept going into my lane at 80 mph towards me. I would have never made it. I will never forget this night! I was really shaken from this! I figured I would end up on the news but the only shot that got on tv was my car's front end since I was so close! I'm just happy to be alive!! Problem is, I need to go to bed for work and I am not even tired! Oh well, I'm gonna watch the movie "Cable Guy" now and relax!!
