Politics

Idaho's political season remains in high gear. I knew I would want to move after election day, as I was almost certain it would be a depressing event for me. This year is shaping up to be a big unknown however, and I truly hope that Jana Jones is elected, so that the fine work of Marilyn Howard can continue. (I realize that push_the_limits has encountered problems with Idaho's education system, but I think those are largely tied to the Boise Public Schools System.)

The attack ads on Jerry Brady are hard and fierce, although now Butch's campaign appears to be taking a softer, "thank you" approach - but the Republican Governors Association (read: Mitt Romney) and the Idaho Republican Party continue to run dirty politics. Unfortunately, and I don't know why, attack ads work. In Montana, where Conrad Burns *GAG* is the incumbent, he's almost leading the Dem because the righties have taken their weasel words they're so good at and are now calling him Dave "Taxer" in ads (apparently he had a record of voting for tax increases in the state legislature). GRRR!

Anyway, I'm pretty depressed by all the mess, because again, my thoughts and ideals will continue to be severely underrepresented (or not represented at all) in state government. I can only hope I will be proven wrong after 9 pm Tuesday (polls in Northern Idaho close at 8 and they are on Pacific time.
