Via _tekwh0re_, an excellent article about an excellent question:

Opposed to abortion?

How much jail time for the woman is enough for punishment?

Go Ruth Bader Ginsburg. I was unaware that Ginsburg's dissent on the partial-birth abortion ruling called Justice Kennedy's opinion an "anti-abortion shibboleth." Right on. (For those wondering, she's saying that Kennedy's opinion on this matter is a litmus test declaring his opinion of women is wrapped entirely in an antiquated world-view. Shibboleth is a word used in a Bible story to determine a which side of a war someone was on - they said Sibboleth if they were on one side and Shibboleth on the other.)

In posting this (lest I misrepresent some nuances of my position here), I do feel inclined to state that while I think abortion's a terrible option and all, the pro-life camp seems to say to me quite loudly that they don't much care about major class/race/gender issues, which is, well, even more terrible. I think that explains quite nicely why I am not among their ranks. I especially appreciated the article writer's quip regarding the extent to which Justice Kennedy needs to discover the emotional strain of raising a child one can't afford and doesn't want.
