This is Esther Ming Yao, one of Sara's neices. Sara's brother and his wife have two children of their own and have adopted one from Korea and three from China. She was born without half of her left arm, and having been here for only a few months, her English is limited.
This picture is her on a metal horse, rocking back and forth, holding on with her plastic hand, shouting "Yee-haw!" over and over. Her Americanization is progressing well. Soon she will be declaring that Coke Is It! and watching The Searchers over and over...

We were about to see V FOR VENDETTA when this was taken.
Suffice it to say, when we left, he was kicking ass with that cane.

These weimaraners belong to Sara's mother and stepfather. Suede is the size of a small horse.
Lucy can fit under him. She controls him.
Dogs are just like cats, only warmer, larger, louder, smellier, totally dependent, and more inclined to poop on things you don't want them to.
Unrelated: last night my Tourette's tried to make me break one of our commemorative Apollo 13 glasses. It failed. Maybe it's still worn out from making me sprain my ankle. Or maybe it's saving its energy for when we have to paint the house this summer. Ladders are the mortal enemy of Tourette's.
Remind me to make a picture to that effect.
