My mom called me last night, slightly frantic, because apparently a huge snowstorm was about to hit the pass and she didn't want me driving over if it was going to be snowing. I can understand that, but as a result I left last night at 10:30-ish and started for Seattle.
That morning I had woken up randomly at six in the morning and couldn't get back to sleep. Caffeine is wonderful, but I have to wonder when it stopped working. The pass was terrible, but only because of the rain. There were huge puddles in the ruts of the roads, and my cheep little tires don't do well in those conditions.
On the bright side, I managed to see some wildlife. I saw a bat swoop under one of the light posts by George, heading towards me. Later I was driving down the one way near my parents (sold) house, I saw something move on the road ahead of me. I slowed down, thinking it was a cat, but it turned out to be an opossum, eating something on the road. I paused for about a minute, watching it, then carefully drove around it. No wonder those things are roadkill.
So I'm in Seattle a day early. Not what I'd planned for, and I'm not entirely sure what to do here. I wouldn't mind just checking and seeing if any of my old group wanted to see me, but I'm too much of a coward to try again. *sigh* Maybe I'll just take Annie shopping, or to a movie.
