Soto & Piro & I had a practice today... at Soto's house... I can't believe it, I fucking found out how to make my electric guitar distort even though I only have a bass amp and it has no gain control on it... I just put the guitar through the bass synthesizer pedal and put on the synth overdrive and fiddled with it a little and it actually sounds awesomely incredible!!! A bit like metal distortion which is what I was trying to go for... maybe now I can re-do Live Bees doing the guitar part myself so I won't have to get sued by Kevin Shields.
Anyhoo. Practice was actually very productive. Dan and I can both play "Rock You Like a Hurricane" by Scorpions :P amazingly well, after I helped Dan figure out the rhythm for the main riff. Me on bass, him on guitar. I think David Tassy's definitely going to do the solo. It will be awesome. And then I started jamming out a little "Trogdor" and then we played "You Fucked Up" by Ween because since I have some distortion on a guitar now and that song needs two guitars we can finally do it... oh and then we watched Primus music videos. "Mr. Krinkle"... so fucked up... I love it though. Les Claypool really is a fucking GOD. And "Wynonna's Big Brown Beaver" where they've got the creepy-looking plastic cowboy suits. Les looks just like Paul Rosa in that video, I swear. Aw man and Soto's starting to like Sebadoh and Eels and some other crazy-good indie rock that no one else will listen to me about. So awesome. Finally someone near me to relate to about music who plays an instrument. Or... well he sings. He's getting a little better with guitar. Oh we practiced a little "Getting Gay" too... supposedly we'll be playing Norwalk High's Battle of the Bands along with Bubba and Paul Harris and David Tassy and Dave Porter (maybe) and Devin Cooke and we'll be called "T&M and the Pizza Face Militia" but none of those other guys showed up tonight so we'll see how it goes. I still really want to do "Live Bees" for either the drama club variety show or the school talent show or maybe both. I'm looking forward to so much. Oh shit and the NME CDs have to be finished by the end of this week!! WISH ME LUCK
