I interpreted that as an alternate universe accessable only through mirrors. So...
In a small town, in pretty much the most secluded part of britain, a strange experiment has taken place. It was supposedly a complete failure, except it isn't, randomly people start to go missing in the town. Also there are reports are that people are going insane, seeing there faces being completely different. Then, someone appears with news of a different world.
No one believes him, despite clames that something is moving between the realities, following the 'signal'. A group of teenagers join together with this man from another universe as they discover the ability to slip through mirrors into an almost exact copy of there planet only a few months into the future, and completely devoid of life.

The Outsider:
Born on the other world, he has seen much hardship as he appears to be the only one who survived the decimation of earth unchanged. However he has been changed, as he is criss-crossed with scars along his back will attest to. He also seems to be holding something back.

Leader:
Born in the town, he has never noticed anything strange about town. His father was a major person in the experiment, and was one of the first to be driven insane. He was on the verge of following his father until he found a purpose in stopping the whole thing. His mirror image has not been revealed so far, but it is thought to be so horrific that he can't look in the mirror.

She's new to the town, and is very sure that she wants to leave as soon as she can. The main reason she hangs around is her crush on the Outsider.
