And it was a wild ride. Thanks to all who came out for the con, as well as the Isotope show and not to mention how great EA was to Antony and I. Will update shortly, but in the thick of it right now, so will give you a taste of what I got up to...err...well, what I walked by at least, because I assure you, I did not go in ( Read more... )

"Did you move to the States to work locally for IDW?"

That I did.

"I thought an artist of your stature would be happy/prefer to be a safe distance away from the mothership? "

There are both big pros and big cons to both!

"What changed? "

The US Dollar ( now peso cough cough ) At least in the US, a dollar is still a dollar. I don't know how people in the UK who earn dollars cope honestly. It's sucking for all us eeeevil foreigner types in comics!

Also: The cost of everything in Perth doubling and tripling thanks to boom times for a few in the mining industries. ( the housing prices are now a sad joke. Perth is great, but not at Sydney or San Diego prices....there comes a point where you wonder why you're living where you are when it'd be easy to move and just as much -yet give you more opportunities- to live over the other side! There's more to do over here than just comics of course. ;)

I also like experiencing other culture. Yes, America to me IS another culture. It's different and there's many things I enjoy about the place. Not least a lot of great people.

So now you know! ;)

I'm sorry our peso has sunk so low. It really is a shame, I'm ashamed. America sucks.

Please enjoy your new digs! I'm sure you're already aware, but just in case, here's some tips for SD living!

The greatest concentration of local culture and arts are in North Park, Hillcrest, and downtown/Little Italy (as you already know). Outside of that, SD is cookie cutter suburbia. Every exit off the 15 or 5 has a Target, a Walmart, and an Outback Steakhouse. Every neighborhood is white washed. So sometimes, you really have to dig for hidden gems of life in that town. But they're out there, and they're fun. So please enjoy!
