Spoilers for the new series here! Don't read the lame excuse for a ficlet if you haven't watched it or don't wish to have it spoiled for you.
Kevin hated that kid. Absolutely despised him. How could a kid that was like, maybe nine get so much attention from Ben? Just because he said he was a fan and blah blah blah. Ben quickly looked passed the fact that the kid totally spilled his secret to the entire world just because he apologized and gave him a cute look.
So what if Ben took Jamie around the town and let him see some of the different aliens in person. Kevin saw them all the time. Hell, he used to be the old ones once. But, minutes became hours and hours became days, weeks, months... Ben was spending way too much time with that brat, Kevin decided.
It was his fault that those people at Ben's school were constantly coming onto him! Even the guys! During soccer practice everyone ogled him, watching as the white practice tee stuck to his body after a long day. The girls were way too close and the men were even closer. Jamie's mom would allow the boy to follow Ben to practice, go to Mr.Smoothie afterwords and hang out for a little longer, so long as he was back before his curfew. She saw Ben as a good influence to her son, and since the boy didn't have several friends, it was a relief to see him with at least one. Even if he was much older than Jamie.
Kevin sat across from Ben and Jamie, glaring at the small child that was sitting far too close to his Ben. The boy was laughing and sipping on his lime smoothie, giggling more when it turned his tongue green. Why would something stupid like that make Ben laugh along with him?
"Okay, so then I picked up Kevin's car and threw it at the giant spiked balls coming our way!" Ben laughed again, grinning wider when the child looked over at Kevin and only laughed harder. Kids were easily amused, no matter how mature they seemed. Jamie was way too smart for his age, but he really did idolize Ben as his hero. The kid even had a little green plastic watch that was colored to look like the omnitrix.
"Remember that, Kevin? You were so mad at me!" Ben continued to laugh.
"How could I forget? I had to rebuild my baby from scratch." Kevin scoffed and sipped his drink, ignoring the looks Cash was giving Ben. He'd always had a problem with the skinny freak, mainly because he'd always been staring at Ben, but now he had a good excuse. There was no more fights between Cash and Ben anymore either. Cash was actually acting somewhat nice. And that alone was freakishly creepy.
"Yeah, but you put in all those new features to this one. The new high end lasers, the under-light for riding in pitch black so we can see around the car. Oh, and the hydro fueled-"
Kevin cut Ben off by reaching over the table, pressing his hand to Ben's mouth and hushing him. That little feature he was about to mention was highly illegal, so no one around them needed to know about it.
"So Kevin, you met Mr.Tennyson when you were eleven, right?" Jamie smiled up at the dark haired teenager. Just how the hell did he know all this stuff?
"Yeah..." Kevin took his hand back, sitting back in his seat properly. "Wasn't a pretty scene."
"That's not true." Ben pushed the tip of his shoe against Kevin's leg. "We got along great until you tried to take the watch and kill me."
"You tried to kill Mr.Tennyson?!" Jaime yelled to Kevin, scooting closer to Ben as if Kevin would reach across the table to choke Ben and he could protect him.
"Like I said; wasn't pretty." Kevin stared down at the child before nudging his own foot against Ben's leg, playing back with the smaller teen.
"It doesn't matter now anyways, Jamie. Because Kevin's a good guy now. He's proved it more than once. He's a part of my team and I can't save the world without him."
Jamie gave Kevin a skeptical look before deciding that, if Ben approved of Kevin, then so did he. Of course, he had no idea of the feet game going on underneath the table. Not that he would really understand why they were pushing their feet together anyways.
"And your cousin?" Jamie smiled up at he brunet again.
"Yeah, her too. But if it was just her and me, she'd probably drive me insane. She does keep Kevin and I alive a lot though." With another smile, Ben gave Kevin a look and pushed his foot a little harder before gently sliding the tip down Kevin's leg. The smile quickly turned into a playful smirk when Kevin's face flushed slightly.
"But Kevin was my first friend. Even if he tried to kill me then. He's my best friend now too."
Now Jamie was watching Kevin with a smile. "It's good to know you help protect Mr.Tennyson. Even if he can't really fail anyways."
Kevin had to laugh at that. "You'd be surprised, kid."
"Hey, don't make me look bad, Kevin." Ben smirked again and ran his foot down Kevin's other leg.
"You don't need me to do that, Benjy." Kevin smirked back.
Of course, Jamie found the staring to be quite strange, but he never questioned Ben.
"It's about time for you to get home, Jamie." The Xenomorph stood up and tossed his empty cup into the trash. "Ready to go?"
Jamie smile for the millionth time that day and got up, grabbing onto Ben's hand. "Yeah."
When Kevin got up from his spot, Jamie grabbed onto Kevin's hand with his free one, holding both hands tightly in his own.
Okay, so maybe Kevin didn't hate the brat as much as he claimed he did. When he was tired he was actually sorta kinda cute. They drove him home and by the time they arrived, Jamie was asleep in the back seat. Ben looked to Kevin and smiled.
"I don't wanna wake him." Ben said, pushing the passenger seat up to reach back and unbuckle the child from his seat.
"Then don't." Kevin reached back and picked Jamie up, holding onto the child as Ben shut the door and opened the door to the building for him.
Jamie mumbled something and wrapped his arms around Kevin's neck, sighing softly as he continued to sleep.
"That's actually really cute, Kevin. You like him and you know it. Just admit it, he's tiny and adorable. Like a small me." Ben smirked up at Kevin before knocking on the door to Jamie's house.
"Nah, you were a lot cuter actually."
Ben blushed and looked to the door as it opened. Jamie's mom smiled and opened the door for the two teens, watching as Kevin headed to Jamie's room to set him on the bed.
"If you ever need a babysitter for him, we'll be glad to do it." Ben looked to Jamie's mother as Kevin took the boys shoes and jacket off before pulling the covers up over him, ruffling his hair before muttering a good night to him.
"You'll be the first I'll call." She smiled warmly at the two before thanking them both as they headed outside.
Ben glanced back at Kevin and reached for his hand, holding onto it as Kevin threaded their fingers together. "You're actually not bad with kids, Kevin. Sure you made him cry the first time you met him but now you're like a whole other person with him. It's cute."
"Yeah." Kevin muttered as he tugged Ben closer. He'd admit that Jamie was an okay kid and he didn't mind him really.

Seriously, Jamie was pretty adorable to me. And Kevin getting all angry face and yelling at him was protective and oddly cute. "Why'd you do this to Ben?! "
Even my bf thought it was gay. And he totes ships it for me.<3
