McDuffie says he was actually asked to tone some things back down to drag the show back to its 8-11 year old boys demo. That's why elements from the original series returned in season 3 that just didn't make sense after the way the first two set the stage.

Does this excuse flubs, continuity retcons, and stuff that Dwayne loves to do best? No. But it does effect ratings, toy sales, and the numbers that the network is looking for. For those kids, Vilgax is a selling point no matter how watered down he is.

(Side note: Dwayne says AF Vilgax isn't less evil than the original series one, he's smarter. That stuff like the challenging for rights to worlds saved him from forming and losing armies, that season 3 was an overarcing story of him discovering the Omnitrix's weaknesses and using it to his advantage... Uh...)

So I don't think he was so behind UA that AF season 3 got bad. I think it was just honestly bad.

All of that aside, as most of it was a tangent that didn't really belong...

Nathan Keyes tweeted something today that has me hopeful for UA: "What's cool about Ultimate Alien is the links to the film ... Hope you've watched Alien Swarm by now!"

If it lives up to the awesome of Alien Swarm? Yeah...
