Thirty minutes later, all the necessities were on a table and Nogoori was trying to convince Kevin to put Ben down onto it as well. “It will be easier for me to use this instrument if you set him down.”
“No! You seem nice enough, but if you’re with them, I don’t trust you!”
“Kevin…I don’t trust them either, but-“
“Ben, we can do this without me setting you down. I’ll just sit down.” Kevin’s eyes were soft and gentle as he stared at Ben’s frowning face.
Nogoori observed the interaction between the two humans. The care they had for each other… Nogoori sighed and opened his mouth to speak. “Kevin, sit down on the couch.”
Kevin’s head snapped up and he looked at Nogoori, somewhat surprised. “Quickly, please,” Nogoori said.
He grabbed the bottle of Poenaiuguolo and pulled the top off. “Drink this Ben. It will not eliminate all the pain, but it will reduce it at least a small amount.”
Ben sniffed the painkiller carefully and grimaced. “It smells horrible!”
“That just means it’s good medicine, Ben,” Gwen stated, smiling. Ben always did that when he had to drink medicine.
Ben bit his lip nervously and downed the medicine in one go. All the while, Kevin watched to make sure it did nothing negative to Ben. If it did...
"Ugh..."
Ben scrunched his nose a little and leaned against Kevin. Kevin instinctively tightened his grip on Ben and held him closer.
“It is time to begin.”
So, I totally don’t draw or paint…because I really have no artistic talent. I’ve just been in a painting mood though, because I had to paint a koi fish for my Japanese class. And watercolors are cool. Hands are not my forte. They’re horrible.
