Icons and FSTs and Lulz, OH MY!

Mar 05, 2009 01:11

In celebration of the announcement that new episodes are returning on March 24th, I've come to share the fruits of my incredibly boring week. ICONS! I think they're from "Paradox," "Grounded," "Alone Together," "Kevin's Big Score," and "Grudge Match." IT INCLUDES THE EVER AWESOME OLD MAN KEVIN DANCE! MUAHAHA! **dances** Yeeeah... the animated ones are kind of lame. GIFs don't save in very high quality when they're this small. D:

On top of these, I've created another FST! Why? Haven't we had enough of these yet? NO! Because all the FSTs we've been creating are generally fluffy and/or cracky and haven't focused on Ben & Kevin's identities as

And to help you understand my choices:
I picked "Heroes" as the theme of this mix. Because Ben and Kevin are heroes. Every episode they get a step closer to saving the world from DNAliens and the Highbreed Invasion. They've smashed Forever Knight can to save Ship, and they've kicked Mike Morningstar's ass when he was sucking Gwen's blood energy. They've got more heroic-ness up their sleeves too, I'll bet.

So, my track list.
1. Unbreakable - Fireflight
"Now I am unbreakable, it's unmistakable, no one can touch me, nothing can stop me."
Kind of epic, actually. It's got a real "kick-off" kind of feel, and it's got a message of invincibility, which is certainly a helpful mindset if you're beating on aliens.

2. Prepare for the Fight - The Lovemakers
"I'll take you away from here, if just for a night. I'll drive you to wherever you want to go..."
"Prepare for the fight [I'll lift you up inside, I'll be right by your side, into the night]"
Hey, you can have them fighting stuff and still care for each other! That's the whole point of this FST! It's like they know something big is going to go down, and they know they're going to be there for each other when the going gets rough.

3. What Happened To Us? - Hoobastank
"We used to be so perfect, now we're lost and lonely. What happened to us? And deep inside I wonder did I lose my only? Remember they thought we were too young to really know what it takes to make it."
Umm... I really can't quote the most relevant lines on this one. This whole song is FUCKING PERFECT to describe younger Ben and Kevin. It's just... GAH. Listen to it. Feel it. It's wonderful and angsty and leaves a little hope for when they're older. It feels like they're fighting for each other again because they "used to be so perfect."

4. Ride - The Vines
Ride with me, ride with me, ride with me home."
Yup, the ever gratuitous car song. No Bevin FST is complete without a car song. And it rocks. This song feels right for this theme.

5. Four Minutes - Madonna feat. Justin Timberlake
"Time is waiting, we've only got 4 minutes to save the world!"
Nothing created by me is complete without some kind of cracktastic laughs. I believe this song fulfills that criteria. "Why? It's about saving the world tonksy!" you say. And while I could just say that and leave things be, why would I when I can use voices as justification? "Huh? Voices? But Madonna and Justin Timberlake sound nothing like Greg Cipes and Yuri Lowenthal!" True. But did you notice? Yuri (Ben) is actually slightly deeper pitched than Cipes (Kevin). Which is kind of lulzy when you look at Ben and Kevin. You'd think Kevin would have the deeper voice. How does this relate to "Four Minutes?" Listen to Madge and J.T.: THEY HAVE THE SAME RANGE, WHAT THE FUCK. Sometimes... Madonna's lines are deeper than Justin's! (Especially at the "grab a boy, grab a girl" part.) Would you have pegged that? Just looking at them? NO. You'd think the woman would have the higher pitched voice because, in general, women are squeakier than men. Good job Madonna. You made my brain explode. Said brain explosion resulted in the creation of Bendonna and Kevin Levinlake.

I'm actually really proud of ol' Levinlake there. Hopefully I got the shadow's nose right. XD

6. Action - Fireflight
"How can we keep on doing nothing? [...] We're looking for some action! We need something to happen, no more wasted nights and days, we're looking for some action."
Getting off your ass and getting stuff done? Sounds like Ben and Kevin. This is also a plea to Cartoon Network for new episodes. (I think it's working! XD )

7. Angels With Dirty Faces - Sum 41
"Obsession has begun, possessed by destruction"
"Now it's got a hold of me, I don't think I can make it through this."
"No chance that I could win, too hard to not give in, I just don't feel the same, 'cause I'm the one to blame!"
Mutie!Kev. For sure. And it's another one of those songs that just feels right for the fighting theme. Even if it's about being lost and confused and possibly losing. D:

8. My Hero - Paramore
"There goes my hero, watch him as he goes, there goes my hero, he's ordinary"
Ordinary, sure. Except I'm fairly certain he's got alien blood and a superhumanly sexy ass.

9. Destroy Everything You Touch - Ladytron
"Everything you touch you don't feel, do not know what you steal, destroy everything you touch today, please destroy me this way"
This song is forever linked to "Prepare for the Fight" in my mind. I think I found them at around the same time on the radio. I dunno. It's got a nice vibe though. Lyrics are rather descriptive of Kevin's bad side. And Ben likes him that way.

10. Angie - Cobra Starship
"I just really gotta know [really gotta know] what more can I say? I just wanted to believe that there was room for me"
"Can't we just run away?"
If you tilt your head to the side and squint, it sounds like "BENJI" instead of "ANGIE" and that's enough justification for me. Because I love this song. For no good reason other than it's called "Angie." Besides, we need more Cobra Starship around here.

11. With You - Linkin Park
"Even though you're so close to me you're still so distant and I can't bring you back"
"The sound of your voice painted on my memories even if you're not with me I'm with you."
Back to the angsty fight musics. Angsty fighting "with you" musics. Oh yes. Ben and Kevin are not on good terms in this one. But they just can't let go of each other, and the fighting is the way they deal with each other because they're constantly haunting each others' thoughts. Sounds familiar?

12. I Woke Up in a Car - Something Corporate
"I woke up in New York City from my sleep behind the wheel"
"Here I am, whoa, Well I woke up in a car I traced away the fog so I could see [...] I've never felt so lost I've never felt so at home"
Fits Ben on that road trip with Grandpa Max and Gwen that comprised the entirety of the original series. Fits Kevin and his car more. Could be all of Alien Force, too, since the car is the main method of transportation in the show. The whole traveling to and from fights and such. But what'll really bake your noodle is considering this: Ben is sleeping in Kevin's car. With Kevin. XD

13. Stand Up - Fireflight
"Don't run away, don't be afraid to stand up if you're broken, stand up if you feel ashamed, you are not alone when you hurt this way. Stand up if you need love, this is my judgment day. You don't have to hide there's no need to run everything will be okay."
Mushy loves and angsty musics and inspiration? Yes please.

14. No Giving Up - Crossfade
"So you found out today your life's not the same not quite as perfect as it was yesterday"
"Just as long as we get up we'll stand tall"
More of those inspiration-type lyrics. "No giving up" is reminiscent of Ben's "No sacrifices" from "Inside Man."

15. Alien Exist - Blink-182
"Hey Mom, there's something in the back room, hope it's not the creatures from above"
"What if people knew that these were real?"
"Up all night long and there's something very wrong and I know it must be late been gone since yesterday"
Okay, so I lied. This was my crack song. Whoops. But it's about aliens. And Ben and Kevin fight aliens, and bits do remind me of Alien Force's action. Wheee?

16. Heroes - David Cook
"Not gonna come down, down off of these clouds, all these heroes come and go, but you're still standing, you teach me to rise up to open my eyes up all these heroes come and go but you're still standing"
"I believe that you can save me and you'll never let me fall, I believe in what you show me, maybe there's a hero in us all"
What? You thought you could sit through all this without me dropping David Cook on you? Are you nuts? This is the title for crying out loud! And it's wonderful. Humph. Listen, ponder, love. 'Nuff said. That and I'm tired.

Wow. This was fun. Enjoy!!
