The Distance Between Eternity 6/6
“He wants to be friends” the Doctor says “That’s something, you’ve got to go and get him Blaine.”
“You’ve got to forgive yourself” Sam adds “He won’t be able to if you haven’t.”
“Blindly trust yourself” Adelayo notes “Who can you trust if not yourself? It’s fear and hate that break down civilisation - we’ve got to counteract it with love and trust. It begins with us, individuals.”
“Couldn’t have said it better myself” The Doctor finishes.
“I’m not there yet” Blaine admits “Like Kurt says, but I’ve been thinking Doctor, Sam has this friend that you would love. As an early birthday present to me can we pick her up? You won’t regret it I promise.”
“Oh please?!” Sam asks excitedly “Please, please, please!!”
“The more the merrier I suppose” The Doctor says “Where to, Blaine Anderson, Sam Evans and Adelayo Hartley?”
“McKinley High School” Blaine says “Lima, Ohio, November 2012.”
“Thank you” Sam whispers in Blaine’s ear “You’ve got to know you’re one of the good guys right? We don’t wanna see you beat yourself up anymore - we love you.”
“I know” Blaine says “Come here silly” and he pulls Sam into a bear hug which Sam reciprocates gladly.
“Young bromance” Adelayo says to The Doctor who only winks “Off you go then” he says and gestures to the door. Blaine grabs Sam’s wrist “Stay here” he says “let me go get her, I’ve got an idea.”
It actually feels like a lifetime since Blaine has walked the halls of McKinley High, even though it’s probably only been days, if that. It’s always startling to see that life goes on without you, people just going about their daily lives, gossiping in the hallways, shoving text books in their lockers and complaining about the cafeteria food. Blaine and Kurt breaking up wasn’t earth-shattering, life kept lurching forward and Blaine kept meandering along. Marley and Jake are still making eyes at each other across the hall, Finn still can’t stomach coffee and Brittany is still standing by her locker in her Cheerios uniform bitching about her cat Lord Tubbington to Artie - nothing has changed.
“Hey Brittany!” Blaine calls brightly and waves “Hey Artie, could you give us a minute, it’s super duper important?” Artie smiles, looking relieved at the reprieve as he wheels away.
“What is it, Blaine Warbler?” Brittany asks and Blaine cringes at the nickname.
“Can you come with me for a minute?” he asks her and she nods happily, taking his hand.
“Well” he tells her “You know how you’ve always wanted to travel in time?”
“Of course” Brittany says “I tried to make a time machine but Lord Tubbington told me that if I got it wrong I’d tear a whole in the universe, so I stopped trying, even though I’m fairly sure he’s a drug lord and I’m not sure how reliable what he says actually is I didn’t want to take the risk”
“Fair enough” Blaine says, always a little jarred with the way Brittany’s brain works, it’s not bad, just different “Well Sam sent me, because he has a surprise for you”
They enter the empty astronomy classroom where The Doctor parked the TARDIS and Brittany just blinks back at Blaine, confused.
“In there” Blaine says, pointing at the blue box “It’s unlocked.”
“It’s a phone box?” Brittany says.
“Just go in” Blaine urges and Brittany does so, edging slightly closer and slowly approaching the door.
She enters with caution, Blaine slipping in easily behind her and Blaine can’t help but smile as she gapes in awe.
“Sam” she says “it’s smaller on the outside!”
“Believe it or not I’ve heard that one too!” The Doctor says “Albeit only once and not too long ago actually... Humans.” The Doctor says.
“Welcome to the TARDIS” Sam says “Time and Relative er, um, whatever, it’s a time machine. I found you a time machine!”
Brittany simply runs and nearly crash tackles Sam to the ground with a fierce hug “Thankyouthankyouthankyou” she says kissing his cheek “You really are the best blonde friend ever!”
“Time and Relative Dimension in Space” The Doctor corrects “I’m The Doctor and this is Adelayo, the TARDIS is actually my ship” he says “But I said Blaine could have a plus one, and then I let Sam have a plus one as well as making Adelayo my plus two, it’s already getting very out of hand, but irregardless - Welcome Brittany S. Pierce, the universe is waiting!”
“Thank you!” Brittany says again, throwing her arms around The Doctor, Adelayo and then Blaine in turn “Can I see the stars?” she asks Sam.
Sam looks at The Doctor “Of course!” The Doctor answers “But slight detour first, hold tight kids!”
Brittany is jumping up and down out of pure excitement, Sam is watching her with a blissful smile as Adelayo shares a knowing look with Blaine and The Doctor gets working on the TARDIS console.
As the whirring and groaning begins to cease Brittany looks up at The Doctor her eyes glittering with excitement “Where are we?” she asks him, unable to hide her huge smile.
“Bushwick, New York. 2012.” The Doctor states and looks pointedly at Blaine.
“No” Blaine says “No, no, no that is abuse of power or something. You can’t push these things.”
“I’m pushing” The Doctor says “Go, for the love of God Blaine Anderson, go get him!”
Blaine sighs and opens the TARDIS door to see Rachel staring at him from her kitchen wide-eyed and in her pyjamas Blaine snaps the door shut, unable to think of anything to say or do to come back from that situation.
“You didn’t tell me that you actually landed in their apartment! Or that it’s the middle of the night! You woke up Kurt’s roommate!” Blaine says “A little warning would go a long way you know!”
“Where else am I supposed to park?” The Doctor asks matter-of-factly, Blaine just sighs - better face the music.
“Blaine!” Rachel says, shocked “What are you doing in that... thing?!”
Kurt appears behind her “Blaine, it’s like 2am” he says “What are you doing?”
“Blame The Doctor for that one, sorry” Blaine says “He said I have to go see you, I thought that it was a bit rude to just turn up in your living room but they all but pushed me out the door so...”
“What is that thing?!” Rachel asks again “How did it get here?!”
“No” Kurt says, ignoring Rachel “I’m always glad to see you, and you might as well cash in on the perks of having a TARDIS I guess. I’m glad you came actually, because I’m not going to be able to get out to Lima for Christmas after all, I was going to text you.”
Blaine smiles “Do you want to do Christmas abroad? We can always come back and do it again in our respective cities - I have to warn you though, we won’t be alone. We’ve got a whole cavalcade in there” Blaine gestures to the TARDIS.
“Kurt! Blaine! What is happening?!” Rachel shrieks, not liking being ignored.
“As friends?” Kurt asks.
“As friends” Blaine clarifies.
The Doctor sticks his head out of the TARDIS door “Good lord, get in here already! I promised Ms. Pierce stars, you’re holding up the adventure! Come along Hummel!” The Doctor looks a little shocked at what just came out of his mouth “Haven’t said that one in a while” he remarks “Anyway, come on Kurt, we’ve missed you!”
“In that case I guess I have to” Kurt says his smile lighting up his whole face and blue eyes shining, he takes Blaine’s hand as they run through the TARDIS doors together leaving behind a very confused pyjama-clad Rachel in the Kitchen of their loft.
Kurt and The Doctor embrace ad Brittany and Sam wave happily at him.
“I never thought I’d hear you say you miss me!” Kurt says and The Doctor chuckles.
“You’ve got a rather magnetic presence Kurt Hummel, this is Adelayo, by the way, we rescued her from a planet that went haywire” Adelayo smiles at Kurt.
“You know me” Kurt says “Forever pulling focus” he turns to Adelayo “Nice to meet you, by the way.”
“Come here!” Sam says as he and Brittany both pull Kurt into a group hug “We’ve missed you lots” Brittany adds.
“Alright!” The Doctor says, taking a deep breath “Blaine Anderson, Kurt Hummel, Sam Evans, Adelayo Hartley and Brittany S. Pierce!” he stops to take another breath “What a mouthful! Where to next gang?”
“Anywhere and everywhere” Kurt says, nostalgia taking him over.
“The Violet Cascades” Blaine says “We never did make it there that time, and Brittany wanted stars... so?”
“Fantastic idea Blaine!” The Doctor says “I will impress you yet Kurt Hummel! Geronimo!”
Kurt smirks, sharing a glance with Blaine “We’ll see” he says, smiling.
