Life, The Universe and Everything

I haven't updated this thing in a while so I think I might waffle a bit. You're all used to this by now anyway, right?

Life is monotonous, really. I wake, a spend several hours at the computer checking my uni email and reading lecture notes, I go for walks and buy food and read copious amounts of crap, with some literature. I really am waiting for this degree to be over, because I don't feel like I can start to really live how I want to live without some sort of catalyst. The Gods of Motivation have been bypassing me all year, and when I mentioned to Bek the possibility of building a shrine in their honour to facilitate a bit of motivation, she informed me that first I'd need motivation to build it. Sigh. It's a vicious cycle.

We recently had a federal election, with two candidates for Prime Minister that I really wasn't keen on. Tony Abbott, for the Liberal party (which is closest to the Republican party, for my American friends), is a close-minded sexist racist pig, to be brutally honest. He makes my skin crawl. Julia Gillard, the Labour candidate, stabbed our previous Prime Minister (KRudd), in the back, takes Abbotts stance on refugees, doesn't want to do anything about climate change, and also shares Abbott's views on gay marriage. Urgh. The past few elections I've taken to voting for the Greens, because they just seem to represent everything I believe in more than either other party. It seems a lot of previously staunch Labour voters went this way as well, because we now have a Hung Parliament, and both the Libs and Labour are negotiating with the people who hold Independant seats to form a government. If they form with the Libs, I'm out of here. Seriously. I'll be on one of the boats Tony Abbott sends back. I mentioned the UK or Canada to an American friend of mine, and he asked me why America wasn't on the table. After 6 months there, I just don't think America likes me that much. I will visit again one day though, I promise! I hate two party systems, and I want to move to Melbourne, where the only Green seat is.
I'm really looking forward to Cazza's wedding now too. Aside from the obvious reasons of it being Cazza's wedding and getting to meet Mina (hugs, coz I know you're reading this matie), there is nothing like the rush of going somewhere new for the first time. I've never been to the western half of Australia before, and I'm sure it'll be beautiful. I have my dress already - a silver floaty kind of dress with silky straps and it makes it look like I actually have boobs. This is always a good thing.

I wanted to waffle on about a research topic I just wrote a paper on - the Kokoda track and how the state has manipulated and controlled our perception of our national identity - but I'm too effing tired. Maybe tomorrow. Night night all.
