When Jared does call, a few days later, he doesn’t say anything about the date, and Jensen doesn’t ask. It takes them a minute to find a safe topic of conversation, but after Jensen tells Jared about Oscar’s latest trick - hiding until Jensen walks down the hallway between the bedroom and the kitchen, then running full speed past with only a pause

Ok, so this is definitely going in my fiction folder, because I have not had anything make me crack up so many much in a very very long time.

Just some of the lines I loved. Honestly, this thing is so quotable.

how the hell he's going to fit all the gifts he bought into his suitcase without spending all of Christmas naked

Or I could bring you some soup, or something. I know I suck at cooking, but I'm really good with can openers and microwaves."

But Jared has absolutely no idea why Jensen would be feeling like that, since he's young and healthy and not a pet,

I'm way too tired to search out the rest, but this was way cool and the total randomness of some of it, especially Jared, was fantastic. Oscar was great as well, I could see the cat every way you described it.

That part about Jensen feeling turned inside out, and it’s all for nothing… *sobs* That’s beautiful and poetic, even though it’s gut-wrenching. *bawls*

That bit about Jared recognizing Jensen sounding resigned, and equating it to older pet parents, is sheer genius!
