Had to put Oreo down today.

For those who don't know, Oreo is one of my cats. I picked her out when I was 5 or 6. My mom wanted a different cat, but I stuck to my guns and we got Oreo instead. She quickly became my mom's favorite, and one of the best cats we've ever had. She was just very loving and caring.

To be short, the last couple of days she hasn't been eating and she has been drinking a lot more. She didn't sleep with my mom, either. The two of them were usually snuggled up against each other at night. She threw up flem a couple of times, and her eyes were running. She also was moving as little as possible. Keep in mind, up until two days ago she wasn't acting any different. My mom called the vet this morning, and then called me to ask me to take Oreo for a 3:40 appointment. As I'm putting her in the cat carrier I'm telling her that we're going to get her all fixed up, and feeling better. After about 15 minutes my mom got to the vet's, right after they brought Oreo back from getting blood work, but before they were ready to examine her.

Figuring it was just a common cold, and because it was about the time the animals are normally fed, I went home so I could take wiggles out and feed the rest of the animals at home. About 25 minutes later my mom came home, and knocked on my door to let me know she was home. However, she didn't come in, and when I responded there wasn't any sign she was still there. I figured she was just helping Oreo out of the crate, and didn't give it a second through. After about a minute I go out, and there is the crate, open, so I look around for Oreo.

My mom came out of the kitchen, and she was crying... Oreo had what they can an "aggressive" cancer in her kidneys and intestines. Basically, there is no way we could have stopped it. It was so bad that she couldn't even go to the bathroom. The only option was to put her down. It made me really mad at myself for not staying, but it was some comfort to know that when she was given the shot she was on my mom's lap purring. I wouldn't have expected anything less, actually. We always called her a little motor because whenever you petted her, just a little bit, she would purr... and her purr was really, really loud.

What bothers me is that it was so unexpected. Two of our cats are in stable, but not reliable, health. If it had been one of them, I wouldn't have been struck so bad by it. However, Oreo showed NO signs of sickness. I just feel really bad for my mom. She loved Oreo so much, and for her, it is really like losing a child.

There's not really much else to say, so yeah...
