Last weekend I went up to the Hopi Reservation for a graduation reception for me and my cousin's Mikquel and Rachelle. My mom invited some of her friends to go down along with us and ya they are pretty koolie people, but they can be...I dunno weird. Anyways, they also brought this guy from Mexico that didn't speak any english, but he really wanted to come because he believes that our tribe is connected with his some how. So we all met eachother at my house at 4:00 o'clock in the freakin' morning! The night before I went out with my friend Becca and her friends to some guy Richards house and went swimming, so I was pretty tired. But I was still ready to drive through the first half of the trip. After that I let my mom drive to Hopi, well basically the part I don't know. But when we headed to my god mother's house, because we where going to stay there. She was so happy to see us. Hehehe. Only one problem, she lives in a different little down in the tribe, so she was scared to go where my family lives because she is in a little fight with one of my family's friend. So sadly she didn't go with us to join the fun, but that is ok. So after we got setted we headed out to go to K town where my family lives, well some of them. They were having a dance there so it was really busy everywhere you went. My mom's friends were really amazed by the kachina dances. I am use to it since I grew up with it and guess what? I got a basket full of fruit and candy. When you get a basket it's like a gift and it's kind of like christmas but there they have dances a lot so it's like christmas all the time. So after the dance I said hi to all my cousin's and aunties and uncles. Of course it was hard to find my dad, when is it not? But I finally found him and he told us to head over to my auntie Lavern's house for the reception, but to take a shower first. Because on the way up I wore my pj's. But the reception is something I will never forget. That was the most fun I have ever had with my family. The three of us were the highlight of the whole thing. So of course I wore my best outfit. My dad cooked the food on this grill he made in Tucson at his friend Jerry's shop and he was so proud of it that he made the steaks and stuff on it. I have to admit the food was great. But before we ate our parents made a speech and Mikquel's mom, my cousin, cried. After that we got to go first and pig out! After that they made us go in the living room and open all of our presents. It was koolie, I never realized how many people are in my family and it wasn't even all of them! I got a lot of kool stuff like gift cards, lots of money, a blanket, and a koolie jewelry box. Then after each of us opened the presents we had to make a speech. O god the speech! Mikquel went first and she started crying, so then me and Chelsea started crying. So through out my whole speech I cried and cried. But I guess they liked it because they clapped really loud. After that we hung out a bit and then we found out they had a koolie surprise for us! FEAR FACTOR!!!!!! OMG! First we had to sing karaoke and I had to sing Hit Me Baby One More Time! My mom and her friends thought I was the best but my cousin Rachelle one and I will tell you why later. Then we had to eat some nasty stuff. We each got an envelope and it had what he had to eat. I had to eat sardines, Mikquel pickled pigs feet, and Rachelle ocra (don't know how to spell it). Of course Rachelle won again. Then we had to eat a full thing of bubble tap and blow the biggest bubble which is actually really hard, but Rachelle won again. Then for the last game we had plates full of gummy worms, oreos, and whipped cream mixed together and you had to transfer them with just your mouth, no hands, to another plate on the other side of the patio. Mikquel won that one and man was that messy. We had whipped cream up our nose all night. But the over all winner was Rachelle so she got the jackpot jar of money. The reason she won is because out of all of us she is the one who needs it the most. She has a little girl and she is kind of poor, so the family wanted her to get it the most. And I am glad she did. So that was basically my weekend with my great wonderful family. I definitely appreciate them more than before. I use to be so nervous to go down there, because I felt left out and not wanted. But now it's a lot different. We are all older and I even have a cousin that looks like me when I was younger. Yaye I'm not the only black in the family! lol Well anyways, I will never forget that day. It was awesome!
