now that everyone else has left the office.....

THOSE SONS OF BITCHES!!!!

so today, i come into work, and for some reason, ALL the managers are still here. josh, my manager on the front desk, mr amin, the general manager, deborah, from the management company. all still here at four o'clock. wtf? well, as soon as tim, the new guy, finishes balancing his drawer and i count it, deborah asks if she can talk to me. so she and i go over to the table in the lobby and sit down- and everyone else follows, including tim. my head is already going "what the fuck is up with this???" and then i know.

deborah begins by telling me that she wanted to talk to me because she was about to post a memo for the hotel staff and she didn't want me to read about this in the memo when everyone else did, because i have been here for so long and am such a valued part of this staff. (my brain was already screaming "bullshit!", but i digress...) she then informs me that josh is moving to the sales department to take over where shanti left off, and that effective today, tim is the new front desk manager.

this, i was more or less okay with. i had had an inkling over the last week that josh may be changing departments, and as soon as i heard they had hired tim (whom i knew had been in hotels before), i had a feeling that if josh left for any reason, tim would be in his place before the dust cleared. doesn't make me entirely happy, because while i like this guy, he has literally worked here four days. i don't know him, i don't know how he approaches this thing that we do for a living, all i know is that he likes hotels, is nice enough, and might or might not be gay.

but this wasn't the huge thing. i've dealt with management changes before, and usually survived it well enough. (ya'll know i hate change.) the kicker was the next part, which revealed to me why she had everyone else troup along with us for this little pow-wow. she didn't want me to make a scene over her last revelation.

she and mr amin had made a decision regarding a letter i wrote to mr amin at the end of november that basically was an overview of everything i do for that hotel on a daily and ongoing basis and have been doing for the last two years. the crux of the letter was that i do everything i do out of dedication to my job, as a team player, and i don't expect a whole ton in return, because it's my job- but that i am NOT ok with training their new employees on a constant basis while neither being paid or officially responsible for this managerial duty. their decision?

"let's give tim 90 days to get his new staff in order, then we'll see about getting you that supervisor position you've been wanting."

o.o

*blink*

*blink*

WHAT THE FUCK?????

you go three weeks ignoring a serious communication between us regarding my position and performance at your hotel, hire from outside the company for a position i at least should have been CONSIDERED for, make a major staff change without even having the courtesy to let me know what was going on until it was already done, THEN you turn around and tell me you appreciate how hard i work for you and tell me you're waiting THREE MORE MONTHS to do something about an issue i approached you about almost another month ago??????????

I DON'T FUCKING THINK SO.

i am not sitting around here for another three months putting up with all the shit i do for pennies. i'm sorry, but i am just worth more than what these people have been giving me, and i respect myself too much to continue putting up with this. and i don't even care how much jim doesn't like it. this is over.
