So, my brother and his wife drove into town today. And with my new improved cell phone, I've had several lovely chats with them. They're flying out to her family in SC tomorrow morning, so I volunteered to cook them some dinner and then drive them tomorrow. Much easier that way for them. Plus they're letting me crash at their apartment on the day I'm "homeless" at the end of the month...
I contemplated what to make, chose Crepes, and preceded to go to the store. Of course, I forget the frozen strawberries. Dink around a little more, go back to the store for those and dink around a little more. Jason finally calls to say they're in town and I tell them what time to stop by. Dink around for a few minutes, then clean up the living room I will see the last of you random paper scraps and cheerios!, clean up the kitchen a bit, and try to make the suckers.
...only to see that I should melt the butter, but hey, I don't. So it's lumpy. And funny looking. Definitely not beaten until smooth. I try numerous solutions, eventually try to scoop out the butter that is clumping and melt it... Yeah. Turns out it was some of the flour, too. By this time, Jason and Kristen were here and helping me out. They didn't laugh too much.
Eventually we get it to be somewhat normal and I start cooking. Switch pans because the first one just isn't working. Non-stick is my friend, it really is. The first one was a little funny looking (the one in the first pan was a lost cause) but they all look pretty good after that. Jason and Kristen were sure to compliment lots, the strawberries were amazing, I laughed, we talked a bit, the food was good. And Jason ate with a spoon, since only two forks were clean. I love that guy. *huggles*
With most of the dishes done *loves Jason* we went outside and he dinked around with my bike. Discovered the only way to really get my back brake working is to get a new back brake lever. Yup. So at least I can get the part tomorrow or very soon and hopefully coerce my Home Teachers into fixing it...or perhaps seeing what I'm capable of. We'll see.
But brothers are awesome, I'll be getting up at 6 tomorrow *hisses at it*, and...yeah. Life is generally a-ok.
*loves life*

P.S. Only now I hear that the numerous phone calls for the roommate who I thought was out, well, she was actually just in her room letting me have "family time"... Right, since I wanted to relegate her to her room. *headdesk*
