When I went to look for Iniki around 11, I couldn't find her. I was mixed on this -- on the one hand, the game of Invisible Cat is normal (Koshka happened to be playing it at the same time). On the other hand, I wasn't entirely certain that she hadn't decided to look for a place where she wouldn't be disturbed in order to sleep herself away in peace.
A little while ago, however, I found her curled up on some fabric in Frizzle's room. She me'a'aued at me (for those who have never heard Iniki speak, she apparently decided at an early age that, if we were going to name her after a Pacific hurricane, she was going to speak Polynesian Cat, completely with glottal stops), and seemed content to be scooped up and snuggled. In fact, she did something she hasn't really been doing the last couple of days -- she thoroughly licked my fingers when they came into range. Iniki has always been a licky cat, but she hasn't been since this whole mess began.
I took her upstairs with me and she settled on my lap almost-normal-like. After a little while, I relocated her to the arm of the couch and successfully convinced her to take a bit more of the vitamin goop I know she actually likes. She did so with very little prompting, and she ate what to my estimates was a complete 'dose', right out of the tube.
So, my current thought is the combination of enforced calories and prednisone are actually doing some good. I'm trying not to let myself hope for too much, however....
