Apparently... the gradient is too large for Newton-Raphson -- and I should use the scaled steepest descent instead. Thanks Gaussian, I hope you know what you're talking about.

I have been having really bad headaches the past few days. Fortunately excedrin seems to take pretty good care of them, but what if one day I turn into Lisa? Terrifying thought right?

Semester started this week. Which means I once again am TAing Justine's advanced inorganic lab again. *sigh* It's not that bad I suppose, but it is a sort of stressful thing too. I hope everything goes smoother then it did last year.

I got a really cool and surprising computational result the other day. I didn't do anything profound to calculate it, I just noticed that I managed to calculate a significantly different electronic structure then what is reported in the literature...and chances are my calculations are more accurate...so yeah. I think it will be a significant finding to report, and I am excited.

Also, why did no one comment on the video I posted? Did you watch it? It is a fucking chicken sledding! It is incredible! I really love chickens.
