The text had caught Sam by surprise...but luckily, he was only doing homework at the time...which could definately wait. Unfortunately...in order to get out of the house, he'd had to sneak by the parents...whihc had beeen far less than easy. Because of this, Sam was just arriving to their usual meeting spot himself, quickly glancing around for her when he reached it.

He'd been stressing out about this kiss ever since the initial warmth had faded, not entirely sure what it meant...or if she was just thanking him...or if he should kiss her...frankly, a good run with Bea would be perfect.

...As long as he could actually keep up this time.

"Oh, good, you made it," Bea said, tying her hair up behind her head when Sam turned up. For once, however, there was no cheery disposition about the girl, and though she flashed him a quick smile, her expression stayed as irate and tight as before.

"Ya ready?"

"....uh...yeah...but're you...okay...?" Sam asked with a riased eyebrow, walking to position aside Bea, noticing her rather dramatic change in temperment and speech.

"Just been one of those days," she replied, cracking her knuckles before reaching down to pick her water bottle back up.

Sam's eyes widened at the knuckle-cracking, "...Uhhh...okay?" Sam risked a smile at Bea, trying to match her gaze. "...You...wanna talk about it?"

"Not really," she said shortly, though she offered a slightly more sincere smile in return before giving her head a nod towards the trail.

"C'mon, let's go."

"....alright..." He sighed, nodding with her and beginning the run, not wanting to be left behind this time. Sam wasn't the smartest person out there...but even he could tell something was obviously up.

Bea knew she wasn't being particularly discreet with her current mood, but she was grateful that Sam let it be for a while. Still, that didn't make her any less upset, and it wasn't long before she lost focus of the steady beat of her sneakers. The soothingly rhythmic patter of feet fell to the wayside in light of her anger, and what had started out as a calming run turned into a race against someone who wasn't even present.

She might not have been as strong or resiliant, but damnit, she was faster!

What she was having a hard time keeping in her head, however, was that Sam wasn't one of the people she needed to prove that to.

Sam had never been an athlete by any stretch of his or any one else's imagination. However, due to the runs he'd been going on with Bea for most of the summer, he had gotten a hell of a lot better. Hell, he could almost keep up with Bea....sometimes.

Unfortunately...this quite clearly was not one of those times. He pushed himself to keep up with her, trying to steady his own breath in order to match pace...but she just...kept getting faster.

How the hell could she manage this?

For a few minutes, Bea forgot about Sam's presence altogether, too frustrated and too consumed by the run to think about her companion. It wasn't until she felt herself pushing past "track running" and into "processed running" that she remembered she wasn't running alone.

Three, four, five steps over the acceptable "in public" limit and she forced herself to a stop, skidding just a bit with the momentum. She was panting a little at that point, though it was really more of a reaction to her frustration than anything else, and she cursed when she realized how far ahead of Sam she'd pulled.

"H-hey....sorry about that," she said when he caught up.

Sam would be gaping if he could breathe...the other teen having more than a slight sweat on his brow via his attempts to keep up with Bea.

"...How....did....you....do....that...?" He asked between pants.

"Heh....must've been a...a kick of adrenaline or something," she said, wincing a bit for how incredibly un-winded she sounded in comparison.

"...You okay?"

"....Yeah......." He forced the word out, still attempting to fix his breathing.

"....How're...you...not....tired...?"

"I've...I've been doing it longer," she said, uncapping her water bottle and taking a drink, though it was more for her nerves than anything else. When she realized Sam didn't have one with him, however, she rolled her eyes and held hers out to him.

"Here, drink some water."

Sam shook his head, standing back up straight.

"Nah...c'mon...I was just...winded...I'll be fine..." he managed to speak between slowly quieting breaths.

"...but be sure to....let me know...where I go...to learn that..."

"H-heh...practice makes perfect, right?" Bea said said, feeling some of her anger having dwindled from the shock of nearly giving herself away.

"Sure you don't want any water?"
