My Yearly Thanksgiving Post

Nov 26, 2007 20:16

Well I guess I'll do a quick "what the hell just happened" thing.

So the thanksgiving week consisted of freaking out about my Spanish Oral exam, hanging with at keiths, doin the thanksgiving thing, working crazy shift, not sleeping, buying and doing the turkey bowl jerseys, playing football, getting the party ready, partying, cleaning, drinking, dancing and singing, and .....sorta sleeping, haha.

I agree with the other responses to Saturday saying that it was a day that I wish I could live over again...and not because I'd want to change it.

Its tough knowing that effort and money I put in to such a orchestrated fiasco isnt what I would call...returned. I pulled favors from my parents, the Chase center, and friends and what I got was a mostly half hearted response.

Its a tough line because its not that these guys and gals dont care. They are here to have a good time because its all what we're tryin to do, and trust me, fun was had. Its just that perhaps I do martyr myself a bit. But here's why.

I organized the football game, bought the shirts and supplies ($50), finished the basics on them (which I did after work from 4-6am and again from 9-11am), and got sweltz there in one piece, played tackle football for 2+ hours, drove back, got the turkey ($40) and drinks and stuff ($10), did a complete overhaul of my basement to fit 3 6-foot tables with walking room, got the food all preped, got more wine ($10), got people gathered, partied, and then cleaned the whole thing once they bounced --inhales--. And then we went to the LWH show (awesome).

And I had so much fun that night. Its just that when I have ideas or when I'm put in charge of things for my friends and such, I want everything to be top notch. And while for somethings in life I wont put forth all of my given talents and energy, I do however display them on such a stage. So I ran like a retard, spent a ton of cash, got no sleep and was slightly disappointed when no one really cooked much in the way of anything. Seanny and Brozy brought cool stuff tho. And while people did bring lots of desserts and chips and soda and more desserts, it was more of the effort that I seemed to be wanting instead. I guess since I felt like I did X amount of effort, I was hoping for some ... vindication. Just a little some some. At least to show that they are as jones'd for this as I was. But once again, it was me leading a personal charge to hosting greatness with no one really behind me. Whatcha gonna do.

At first I was a little peeved, but there is really no place for it. I did it to myself. I wanted this sweet and kinda unique atmosphere just the way I had pictured it and that was exactly what I got. And I guess what I have learned is that all my dreams come with a pricetag, but at the same time, I'm always willing to shell it out. So I guess I'm in my perfect spot.

So even though I did want a little gratification, I did get it. Lauren said it was one of the best nights she's had and that definitely meant something. Miraj said it was an event "well done" and compliments from those two seem to mean a bit more. But yea, everyone had a great time and I only wished that I didnt have to host it just so I could have spent a little more time with such a crew. Haha...that umpire call joke was too too good. haha.

Its always a bittersweet shame that I remember sitting around on Thursday goin..,"man, Saturdays gonna be here soon and its gonna be awesome." And now I'm sitting going, "man, Saturday was awesome." But it always seems to arrive too slow and be a memory too fast. But one amazing part about that night is that I was in bed the next night dreaming up the sequences of the evening just past and I could literally remember all my steps, conversations and people's placement for at least an hour. It was completely surreal. It was kinda like that last episode of Dawsons creek where Dawsons TV show is literally about his life. And it was so great because he unlike most people, got a chance to live his life twice. I dont know why I remember that, but it was exactly the same thing. I got to have an incredible night for two days in a row. And it was just as cool as I remembered.
