Buying a house

So I am seriously considering putting an offer on a place in Reservoir for $465,000. It is a 3 bedroom place, 2 Bathrooms, a large lounge-room, (possibly big enough for a table tennis table.), small yard, 5 minute walk to nearest station ( Read more... )

I ended up picking the city because that guarantees a good commute no matter where you work. If in city you walk, if outside it's a drive that is counter flow.

I didn't know you had bought a place.

My girlfriend will probably end up needing to drive for work (disability home care) so that would make city very painful. As long as I have easy access to the train and it doesn't take too long to get in, I'm not too worried about that aspect.

Why would it be painful? I have a pretty good commute to work from the city.

I'm saying my girlfriend would have a painful commute if she started from CBD traffic. If it wasn't for her work, I would seriously consider giving up my car.

There's nearly no traffic. I leave at 730, most of the traffic gets to the city by about 830 to 9. I arrive home about 6 to 7 and most traffic has departed by then.
