However, it is a joy to discover that once I read it in English, I do understand it in Italian. It a question of vocabulary, really, more so than grammar, since it is quite similar to Spanish, even the conjungation of the verbs.
Getting into Holmes's POV is really not that much different than Watson's, only there is much less original material to go on - two or three stories of Doyle's only. However, over at ff.net there is a writer who has "specialised" on Holmes - Westron Wynde. Her fics are among the best and finest in the whole fandom, here'S the link of the first http://www.fanfiction.net/s/4311633/1/The_Curious_Case_of_the_Prestidigitators_Python She writes fics during Holmes's early career (before Watson) in his POV, exploring how he met Toby... You are going to love her Mycroft, too. As a matter of fact, I tend to see her work almost as second canon, so to speak.
As I said, I was stuck in my Holmes chapter, and I read part of The Lion's Mane, by Doyle, which is set at the Sussex coast as well, for inspiration - it worked!
At any rate, I am a person who needs both visual and auditory aid to memorise anything, and it is beneficial to me that Holmes has much more lines on screen than Watson. :D
As for the episodes, Clive Merrison and his partner (forgot his name, so sorry, Watson ;)) are the only couple to have recorded all adventures and novels by Doyle. So, including CHAS. ;) You might want to take a look here, its a download overview, basically ;): http://rapid.org/board/showthread.php?t=242162
As for the '54 series, there are mostly original adventures only loosely based on Doyle's. There is an adaptation of the Greek Interpreter, and a twisted one of FINA/EMPT (brilliant episode, btw, "The Christmas Pudding"), but that's about it, I think. No CHAS. The Russian series includes CHAS, as a prelude to FINA. It's on youtube, with English subtitles.
As for myself, I am fine. Getting better at walking, and have now a prescription for massages to reduce the remaining swelling... I'm getting along. Feel rather like our good doctor, though, with the limp... ;) plus, I feel so sorry what I did in the Riders, later - I swear it was before I sustained my injury... you'll understand once I post chapter 20... sometime...

I knew Westron Wynde, I'm currently following her "Postern Prison", but I must confess I haven't read every fanfiction of her, and not the one which you have suggested me! *_* Thank you - will eagerly get to it!
I will follow your advice and read some passage of Holmes pov when I'm stuck in a difficult chapter, and I am sure it will give excellent results! (we crazy italian writers of the Sherlock Holmes fandom do have another way of overcoming writer's block - we meet together in joint chat and take our characters' roles - but, shhh! Don't tell anybody, otherwise someone could realize how mad we are our secret may be discovered! :D)
Thank you also for the download overview site suggestion! Will have a look at it :D Also, I didn't really know about the Russian CHAS! Will absolutely watch it, 'tis one of my favourite short stories :D
I'm glad you're better! I hope the massages will have a beneficial effect :) Er - I'm looking forward to chapter 20, but I will tell you, I'm quite trembling on my chair. *shakes* What have you done to our poor men? *fear*
