why did my break have to end so soon? It was so nice doing nothing. I took a half day on July 7th and drove to NY state that afternoon. Michele was cranky before we left and she ultimately ended up quitting her job after she returned from her weekend in New York. That's an entirely different story though.
I ended up spending lots of time in the pool and highlighting my hair while I was in New York. I also went to my cousin's graduation and her party, a wedding, and I visited my mom's grave. The Hargreaves side of the family got together to do a little memorial service for my grandmother who had passed away back in the fall of 2000. I partied with my cousin Leah and her friends. We went to the the Blue Room and A-Pub in Downtown Rochester. I am unsure about the names, but I definitely remember drinking a bunch and not being able to dance. The highlight came when Leah and her friend Leanne were scouting guys and Leah tries to pick up this guy for Leanne and she hits on one of Leanne's ex-boyfriends.. damn.. of all the people at that place..
Leah left earlier in the week and I went and visited her at her place at the University of Buffalo. We went to downtown buffalo for concerts in the square where we saw Lit'l Feat, a band from the late 60's. We never actually watched the band, we just socialized and drank a bunch of beer. I had a slight buz going on when we left for a club a few blocks away. I got to dance there. They had 3 for 1 specials on a bunch of their drinks. I got pretty loopy and danced until we had to catch the metro back. I didn't feel so bad about dancing because I danced with one of Leah's co-workers, and he wasn't dirty. I called Chris after leaving the club and the metro ride to tell him I loved him and all that good stuff. We ate some buffalo chicken subs and then went to another bar: Molly's. I almost fell asleep on a ledge with my back to a video arcade game. We left shortly after arriving.
I left for Pennsylvania the following afternoon. Once I got to Randy's I set up camp and waited for Chris to arrive. I drank a lot of beer and was happy to see Chris and all my LCA guys. The weekend was pretty crazy though. It involved lots of beer and cars.. but never drunk driving.. woo-hoo. I went to Pitsburgh and saw lot of old cars and art at the Fricke Museum. We ate lunch at Belle Notte's because the sandwich place would not take our order after sitting there 10 minutes and requesting 2 different waitresses to take down our orders. Then we got lost using Al's GPS trying to find a place that sells all different exotic beers. I had a belgium beer that tasted pretty good and had 5% a.b.v. We went to Randy's neighbor's house the next day?? and saw tons of old cars.. the favorite quote/convo of the day was:
Guy who owns cars: "Honey, could you get me the battery charger please?"
Wife: "Where is it"
Guy: "It's by the Rolls Royce"
Wife: "Which one?"
Guy: "It's between the two"
Wife: "Which two?"
Randy and his dad ended up helping the guy get his 1908 Cadillac running which hadn't run in 10 years.
We went to the Butler County Fair one day after I got trashed playing Presidents and Assholes. I never had to be the asshole!!! Woo-hoo!! But I did drink a lot. I managed to walk straight enough to go. Chris however, could not. I left him at Randy's and felt kinda bad, but I still had a pretty good time and ended up sobering up enough at the fair to not be offensive at all. We saw a combine demo derby followed by a schoolbus demo derby. The combines kinda sucked because they didn't really do too much. One flipped when exiting the park which drew a bunch of attention away from the start of the school busses lining up. It was pretty funny. It was SSOOOOOOOOO hot though. When I got back, I managed to get Chris to come down the hill from the fire. Good thing because they blew off a bunch of fireworks and then made some of their own using acytelene and oxygen and our campfire. I will upload pictures later of the smaller blast created from one of these 'fireworks'.
Everyone left on the 4th except for Chris and myself. We packed up the tent and everything but slept in the house. Good thing because we missed the thunderstorm at 3am. We drove back and stopped at the outlet mall on Tuesday. We both bought backpacks. I had to laugh at Chris because he thought coldwater creek was a backpack place and it ended up being an old woman's store.. hahaha... we had some conversations that made me start thinking about what I am really willing to sacrifice later in life and what I really want. I dropped Chris off at Kutnick's apartment and we headed for my family's house. I ate a hotdog, lectured my brother about helping out more around the house, and then left for Jackson.
I worked yesterday and I am currently at work right now (just about to leave). My last day is tomorrow. I will pack up my car today with most of Chris's storage stuff and whatever I have left at the house. Today is the 2-year anniversary of Martin owning his house. We may through a little party tonight with the people living in it: Donnie, Dave, Jordan, Martin and myself. Warner may come over too. I made them all lasagne last night and it turned out okay. We'll probably eat pizza tonight and drink a few beers in celebration. We played whiffle ball home-run-derby last night.. it was funny... good times.
Time to wrap this up. Oh yeah, we got a new engineer today.. he seems okay... will probably work here for a year or two before he realizes there are better jobs out there.
