Christmas!

Yatzee!! Christmas!

So my mom made me go to church last night, playing the "it would really mean a lot to your father and me if you heard us sing in the choir" card. I usually let this happen once a year so she won't guilt me too much. BUT I also went to church with the Fam over thanksgiving without a single protest. Two church services in ONE month. This is a recent record and should tie me over for...oh...ever.

But, I have at least developed a policy. I enjoy singing so I'll sing hymns, but other than that I basically pretend to be performing a sociological study and simply observe. I don't take communion...anyone else notice how cannibalistic it is to eat the "body" and "blood" of "Christ?" Ties in a whole other level of power symbolism and the consumption of human flesh. Warrants more exploration in my opinion. But I digress... I also don't say prayers or the phrases marked in the program for people to speak outloud. It seems too scripted to be genuine.

None of this should be taken as a criticism of religion. I find religion fascinating but I have some issues with my mother in regards to spiritual expression.

Anywho...

This has been an excellent christmas: Dutch pancakes. Lovely gifts. Viewing of "The Family Stone." Saw Libbey at the movie. Delicious dinner. Hands and Feet. Eccentric Family!

Yes. A very good christmas.

Gift-wise I recieved some clothes and make-up and jewelry (my goodness! SO girly!) Post-Its with my name on them, a couple purses, candy, and lots of BOOK MONEY! (fun books not school books).

I recieved nothing that was thoughtless or useless, which are my basic criteria of excellence.

Well, too much rambling. I hope you all have had a wonderful day and that good karma is in your future.
