Murcia...I miss Summer soooo much....

Nov 05, 2011 20:59

Going to Murcia the past weekend was like going again to summer time for a few days despite being in autumn. Though getting there by traing was boring. Almost four hours and a half...Now I know why I prefer airplane jajjaj. And going in tourist is even more boring. At least in preferent they entertain you with food ;)

My friend mnemisones's contact in Murcia had told her while we where traveling that it was raining there and we could see as we we re going that the weather was really changing from sunny.............................................................to cloudy

I was prepared for any change in the weather. Rain, sun, heat and cold. Just in case...I'm a very organized girl. Lucky me I had more t-shirts than long sleeves. I even brought with me a raincoat :D.

Saturday afternoon was most contact with Murcia city than anything else. I was tired at the end of the day. Well, I'm always tired at the end of the day when I travel lol (sleepy head present).Lunch was an introduction to regional cousine: Michirones and zarangollo as part of it. We were leaving Arroz Caldero for the next day (ñam ñam)

Michirones are (big) broad beans.......Delicious

...And Zarangollo (egg and zucchini based dish)

After walking by the Segura river and around the cathedral I took my chance to take some photograps. Poor mnemisones...she is a very patient friend ;)

After dinner and early we went to bed forgetting it was saving time day change. My friend woke up too early and I woke up listening to her alarm clock from the other room lol. What can I say?? I have a very good ear :). Anyway...her alarm clock rang using the "old" time but mine changes automatically so after seeing it was too early to wake up I closed my eyes again and..voilà...I was asleep again in less than 20 secs

Sunday was day for visiting Cartagena, with phoenician, roman, byzantine and moorish influences.

I was surprised to see so many north americans, even though we had been invaded lol. Until I saw this and it reassured me we were home

After walking for 2 hours around Cartagena, going up and down hills, the castle, walls and the harbor we drove a bit more till we arrived to Lo Pagán, in San Pedro del Pinatar, where our reservation al restaurant El hijo del rubio was. We were so happy to have called the day before sunday to reserve....you can imagine. It was FULL of people waiting. I was eager to eat an Arroz Caldero. Part of my family comes from Alicante and I'm a compulsive rice-eater woman jajajaj. So I forgot to take a photo before.....I ate all of it!!! This is all I can show you. It was really "bad" cooked ;)

Dessert was really bad too. Took me 30 "long" secs to eat it. Home made chocolate cake. After my failure at taking a photo of Arroz Caldero before I ate it, I'm ashamed to say that I totally forgot to take a picture of the cake lol. I was enchanted by the chocolate jajaja

And instead of seiesta we went to the beach. Wonderful weather, windy perfect for kite surfers. We stayed there like 2 hours before going back to Murcia

Back to Murcia we went to have an afternoon tea at 8pm (lol, for some of you that's dinner time!!) in the middle of the fertile region of Murcia. Dinner and another night I dozed off in an instant, helped by 2 coronitas we drank during dinner each of us lol. I'm not sure if I were to tavel to an earthquake area if I would notice it during sleep.......

The next day we visited Caravaca de la Cruz and Fonts of the marquis, a natural reserve full of squirrels, and back to Murcia for lunch. Surrounded by orange trees, turkeys and cats. Ferocious confrontation between them to get some of the food left in our plates. The cats afrais of turkeys, and the lasts a bit agressive with the poor cats. Never thought I'd see cats running because of them

And at night, after being at Fuentsanta's Santuary we went to take some pictures of Murcia from the top of our building. The Cathedral, Segura river and the center of Murcia city

Ánother dinner with murcian specialities: pastel de carne murciano

and another thing I cant remember the name of, sweet on the ouside, salty in the inside. mnemisones, I need your help there :)

Our last day would be the next. Well, half day because we were leaving in the afternoon...preferent. Wooohooo :p. Went to the top floor of the building to get this wonderfull (phone) photo and went to have a snack in a terrace. with the bad luck that a bird decided to do his "things" on my arm and trousers...damned. It had been a long time since that had happened to me :(

We ate at a german place specialized in beers from around the world. I didnt have to drive but I had to get home walking so something easy on alcohol ;)

Conclussions from our trip back home in preferent class. Definitely better in preferent or bussiness if money allows it ;)

murcia, caravaca de la cruz, cartagena, san pedro del pinatar
