Continuing my previous post about BasauriCon1.0. What I'll definitely remember above all...
1.- Mary McDonell. So most people I've met in Basauri likes her, one way or another. I'm not different lol. But I prefer Eddie first haha. Anyway, I guess that's not a surprise to any of you because of the wonderful banner I have as header, thanks to
yokana_yanovick . I was pleasantly surprised about her becuase I had an idea about her being too sophisticated (still haven't changed my opinion about her in that matter, which is nothing bad) but after talking with her and listening to the interview she did in frekytown...well, I wasn't expecting her to be that funny (except for her giggles lol).
When we had the organization dinner with them she was my main preocupation. i can tell you. What do you talk about with her if you think a person is not...i don't know how to call it. Reachable is not the word. The first impression I got of her was (not when I got to meet her in person) of a person too...not exactly the word but snob will have to do, because I can't find the words to express it in english :(. So during the dinner I was prepared for Eddie. He looks (and is) a person you feel confortable with talking about anything, but Mary...What would I talk about with her?? Fortunately for usshe was really into it and I think she did a good job trying not to make us feel unconfortable with her. She did great and we talked about different topics. Hybrid cars (never though I'd see Mary talking about cars either lol), esthetic durgery in hollywood, they asked us what we did for a living, we talked about the differences between their business and spanish cinema...Prolific. She was really tired so that's the reason why she didn't go to the party. Sorry, girls.
2.- Edward James Olmos. His comment in the opening ceremony saying to Mary "I rather see you in a bikini" LMAO. Eddie is not a fool.
eristi , how convenient was Eddie's frame in a bath suit haha
And when Mary was talking about watching the video at the background, she made a gesture to Eddie like saying "Stay away, you are too hot and I'm feeling hot too because of you" lol. And He had to laugh to the joke (was it really a joke? jaja). They won us all. (photographs belows correspond to THIS moment)
Thanks
katamarann for the photographs
3.-
yokana_yanovick , you are a clever girl. She has a few photographs with him, and I'm supossed to be the one who had/has a crush on him (talking because I have a wonderful EJO banner lol). Ok. I got a few hugs from Eddie (NOT COMPLAINING) but a few more and It was ok for me :D.
4.- The organization had dinner with them on saturday and both of them received us with applauses at the restaurant. They were really emotional about the presentation videos and asked for a copy for themselves so guess what we are doing right now ;). They were kind and friendly during the night. Different topics being treated from differences between hollywood and spanish movie industry to some advices they gave us for a next convention if we were going to organize one. Eddie was in particular comitted to the task of giving advice. "You have to do this and that" blah blah
5.- When he was translating both ways from spanish to english and viceversa during the opening ceremony. And the staff could see how much he liked speaking in spanish because during thr organization dinner he talked more than expected in spanish. No objections but considering Mary was present... I think he forgot about it a for few moments. Every time I had a chance to say something I went back to english. Mary didn't make gestures or anything. She was just listening to his voice ;)
6.- The dance!! I have something to add. Something some of you probably don't know about the back story.
quirkynerd contacted me at the end of Eddie's panel on sunday to ask me if it would be possible to play a song if she asked something to Mary and Eddie later. I asked her what she wanted and explained to me that she was going to ask Eddie and Mary to dance on the stage to the sound of a song they had choosen. Can't remember the song but the rhythm was too fast for my taste and I told her I could try to find another one, slower ;) So a deep research began during lunch time. Asked all the fans around me during lunch if they had anything like Frak Sinatra. So everyone checked their mp3, mp4, phones, iphones...until
pennyfeline found something of Louis Armstrong, song named Hello Dolly. Now we had to copy it to
abaut_time 's laptop and find a cd to burn it.
30min till we found a way to copy it to the laptop hard disk, because laptop did have card reader but we didnt have microSD adapter. Now we had it in the laptop, so I had to find a cd to use play it through the theaters equipment. I asked Andoni, the tecnician, if he had one and told him the story. He liked it so much he said "Of course I have a cd and can give you one" haha. Thanked him and burnt it. We were now prepared. You all know therest.
quirkynerd asked the question in spanish, because it was directed to Eddie. Mary had said before she would like to haha. So here you have if you haven't seen it yet (improbable lol)

And just after they were coming on stage after watching the last video...THEY WERE CRYING. They felt emotional because of the video and I guess the wonderful ambient there was and they coulndn't stop themselves. Love them for that gesture. It makes them more human if it's possible :)
7.- The end was wonderful. We were out of schedule though because Eddie and Mary wanted to sign everything all the fans wanted them to so it took more like..almost 3h instead of two :S. The closing ceremony ended but we couln't show in the big screen the video contest winner, so here you have it
You can watch this video on www.livejournal.com
I'd repeat it without thinking twice if our guests wanted lol. Thanks all for coming and hope to see you soon :D
