Legacy thoughts

The legacy I'm currently writing is the first I've written, so I'm starting to have some realizations over the way this is different than other simstory writing.

First of all, there is a pacing v detail issue that I'm having some trouble with. Theoretically I would like this not to take forever and ever, so I'm having to compromise some things that would probably make the story itself a bit deeper. I am, however, quite happy with my kidnap story-line from the gen1 to gen2 transition, so maybe what I need are just 1-2 detailed story scenes per generation with some transitions scenes. IDK.

Secondly, it has taken me a little while to really get into the characters of the family. I think I started off with too broad a viewpoint and am having to adjust in to see more of the details. I now have gen 3 teens, though, and I have a pretty good idea of who and what the characters are, including the youngest, who aren't even playing a role in story progress yet.

Third, if you start with an empty neighborhood, there isn't a lot of scope for story. At nearing gen 3, with some families being played out of sight, I'm finally getting to the point were there are actually enough sims for my legacy family to interact with.

Fourth, I do miss some of the more detailed storytelling I've done elsewhere and so I'm wondering if I might want to do some sidestories around the neighborhood at some point, since I'm playing all my lots anyway. But again, there is the time issue.

Anyway, just some thoughts I am having.
