Had a hard time going to sleep last night- didn’t really fall asleep till about 2, at which time I was happy because I was going to be able to get up in a few hours! But because I hadn’t been sleeping, I didn’t wake up early! Yet another night where my brain wouldn’t shut up.

I have been having some pretty vivid and bizarre dreams lately- mostly nothing worth reporting, but I would say last nights was. Where I work now, I am in a line of three cubicles, and then to my back are two offices, one occupied, and one empty for visiting partners. Last night I dreamed that my old boss showed up unannounced, took up residence in that empty office, and announced that she was there to watch me screw up. I really got angry- I screamed at her that I don’t work for her anymore, and told her to leave me alone. Then, there is an announcement that we all have to evacuate the building because there was a tornado coming- I looked out the window and there was- it looked more like a typhoon (all blue and watery looking). I tried to go run down the stairs to the basement parking garage with everyone else, but my ex boss told me I couldn’t go until I had entered my time- and she was dumbfounded as to why I couldn’t do something as simple as that (dumbfounded was a phrase she really liked) The tornado was literally right down the road, and she wanted me to enter my time! I told her again “I don’t work for you anymore” and ran down the stairs…

I still have panic moments where I wonder if I’ve messed something up that I don’t know about and am about to get reamed for it- I’ve been here 3 months and I still haven’t gotten it through my thick head that they don’t DO things like that here. I’ll learn, I know! It’s amazing how much better I am at my job, and at life, without having to fear that everyday.

We got a windfall yesterday which will significantly help with the closing costs for the house, and will mean that we won’t have to empty our savings account to pay for things. We’ll give my landlord his required 30 days notice when we close on the 24th, as we probably wont have a first payment due until November, and we will have had to pay what’s due of my lease (well, 50%, cause they’re nice like that) when we gave notice. That gives us a month to get everything together and move out- I plan on starting to pack things now (or at least weeding things out- I’ll post about various things we’re getting rid of in case anyone wants them) This way we can also spend a couple of weekends really thoroughly cleaning the place to get as much back out of my $900 balance as possible (I had to pay a LOT to be approved to live there!)

Inspection Monday- I’m going to be spending the time measuring spaces and figuring out where I’m going to PUT everything- I will actually be going so far as taking graph paper and drawing the floor plan out then making little furniture to scale and arranging them around. I did this once before when I was moving to my favourite apartment which had a REALLY bizarre floor plan, and it works out well, especially if you err on the side of caution and keep the furniture pieces rounded to a bit larger than they are... Need to measure the windows, too, for curtains, and figure out where the cat box is going- there’s a hall closet which we may be able to put it down on the bottom floor and run a curtain across it so it’s not really visible, but that, or a privacy screen in the dining area is really my only thought at this moment (given that the bathroom is probably too small for it, and that we don’t want it in our bedroom, and the other room is my sewing room which will unfortunately be a cat-free zone until little Violet learns that everything in the world is NOT her toy) When we move in, will be investing in lots of little touches - like painting all the cabinets and trim white as opposed to the wood that they are now- just little things to open the space up a bit. Will also be looking at unique drawer pulls, curtain tiebacks, oh, and curtains! Just small things, mostly, just to add some personal touches. Eventually, we will tile (or parquet? Not sure yet) the entire place- what is your opinion of tile AND parquet floors (think Ikea style wood-look floors)

Anywho, in other news- Jeff and Stacey will be coming to TRF with us, along with her parents, who are an absolute hoot- we’ll have one pop-up and one fifth wheel- a nice little encampment area! Mitchell and I will be getting the Coleman pack-away fire pit/grill to take with us, but alas, I do not get my fancy camp kitchen this year as we are renting to pop-up. I’ve invited my best friend Jenna, who was my MoH at our wedding, and her fiancé Lyle to come down from Chicago and join us- she’s only been to faire once, when we were 17 (also the first time Mitchell and I were in the same room together, although we didn’t know it! We both were in the audience fro the Flaming Idiot’s last show at TRF!) But anyway, she had fun, so maybe they’ll come with! I SERIOUSLY need to make Mitchell’s Venetians- like, now, this weekend. I will do it! I will. Need to go to JoAnn and find a pattern I saw and loved… with some tweaking, I can make it pretty passably accurate… I need new faire clothes too! And I can’t afford to pay Pendragon’s prices.

Okay, seriously, I swear I’m done now.
