someone in here likes to cook cabbage. VERY smelly cabbage.

at some point I'll get tired of saying this... but.... another LONG day today. started by mother taking her kiwi friend Anna to the airport - after living here for 3 years, Anna is returning, somewhat unwillingly, home. she had so much STUFF, and left a load of it for us to throw out/pass on/keep. anyway, was half-woken by her about 9am. woke up properly at 11am. boiler repair men expected at 12, so had to be quick in showering. Also, boiler turned off in preparation of being fixed- water heated by the EVIL contraption of the electrical immersion heater.
I HATE CABBAGE SMELLS. *ahem*
Immersion heater somehow splits the shower water so it runs hotCOLDhotCOLDhotCOLD... pulses maybe 1 second long of extreme temperature. Or else it'll just run cold, about 5 degrees colder than is pleasant. not COLD, but nt warm enough either. evil thing. Spent the afternoon online... bliss... Helen's sent me some FAB CDs, so listened to them while reading forums and doing emails etc.
It is possible to cook cabbage so it doesn't stink, and actually tastes nice. My neighbour has not learnt this trick.
I had to be at the Almeida theatre at 7.30 to see David Mamet's play "Romance", as part of my course. So, thought I, get to theatre 7pm, islington, ok, so 6pm train, Victoria 6.30, 30 mins to get there, no probs. hah. Train delayed 20 mins outside Balham... I got quite a bit of knitting done... then chaos at Victoria, I grabbed food, went down to tube station... and went straight up again. Silly me, 6.30pm is a bad time to go underground. far too many people. So I went for a bus... the 38 goes to Islington, vaguely remember taking it a couple of times to get to the chapel bar.
Now I get the smells of the after-effects of too much cabbage. this is many shades of unpleasant.
38 doesn't even pull up til nearly 7... 7.30, we'd just cleared Shaftesbury Ave. fortunately, it was pretty quick up to Angel! But then it turned the wrong way, ie. not past the theatre... so I was walking, in the rain, remembering a rather undetailed map.... walked straight past the side-road it is actually on, and had to double-back. theatre staff were all lovely tho! I got up to the balcony for a scene change, and sat at the back, slightly restricted view, but so not bothered.
Rather amusing play- probably hilarious and a work of genius to some. But to me, rather amusing. It had a pretty gay boy, so I was not too miserable!
Still, I'm asking a lot of questions of whether I want to be at Central. I want to develop my costume-makingskills, not get a BA in bullshit! tried to concentrate on the play... getting back to swiss cottage from Islington was none too easy... London is like a huge cartwheel, all the transport comes off from the hub of the centre. Islington is two "spokes" to the east of Swiss cottage, with Camden between. But I had to go down to Baker Street to get a connection back up to Swiss Cottage... doesn't help that the Northern Line is currently out. And guess what line Angel's on?? So it took forever, in the rain, and on a damp, crowded, steamy bus, to get back here. And now the cabbage. GAH!
