I don't think I've ever rolled my eyes so much before last night.
I watched an Italian movie called "Facing Windows" (I forgot the Italian name for the movie) in class last night, and it turns out it's another one of those stories where a marriage has lost its 'spark' and the woman becomes infactuated in another man. And honestly, it's like watching "Unfaithful" again, except no one dies in "Facing Windows".
I don't know if its just me or something else entirely, but I've come across stories like this more times than I'd like this past fall semester. I read books like "Petite Anglaise" (a biography) , and "The Namesake" (fiction) , which had similar cases of a "boring marriage". So by the time I watched "Facing Windows" last night, I was feeling nauseous.
Not that I want to sound like a jerk (I'm barely in my 20s), but- honestly- is a woman's answer to an unhappy marriage is to sleep with another guy? I only say this because I see it so much that it looks as if it's a new trend.
What pisses me off the most is that the lovers in the affairs leave after a short time, never to be seen again. Things like that is what makes movies 'Chick-flicks', or what I like to call, 'Chicken-shit flicks'. Really, I hate watching a woman waiting for some guy to rescue her from a marriage that she views as a trap. Do you really need to sleep with another guy to learn to get your shit together?
If you want a nice Valentines Day movie, watch "Chocolat" with Juliette Binoche and Johnny Depp. ♥
