Beyond the night
It wasn't as bad as he thought it would be. After seeing a brief glimpse of green comforting darkness surrounded him. There was no pain or agony, only silence, the sounds of the fight erased. He sighed and closed his eyes, relaxing for the first time in years. So it was over now. It had been different than he had expected, but he wasn't sorry. There hadn't been much for him left on this earth anymore. He only hoped that Harry would be alright.
How long he had drifted around in darkness, he didn't know. It had been comforting and peaceful, a much needed break for his battered body. The sound of voices and laughter was waking him up again and he blinked sleepily. He wasn't surrounded by darkness anymore. There was light, the sun above him shining from a clear, blue sky. He stretched before he slowly stood up. So this was to be his next adventure. A small smile graced his handsome face. He felt younger again, full of energy. He wasn't old anymore, he could move without his body aching. As he took in his new surroundings with an eagerness he hadn't known since the days back at school, a familiar voice startled him.
"Moony?!"
He turned around in time to see two dark haired boys running in his direction.
"Bloody hell it is Moony! I told you it is him, Prongs, I told you!"
The small smile on Remus' face was growing into a bright grin as he watched one of the boys hitting the other one on the head before running on. When they finally reached him, Remus was pulled into a tight hug. Happiness was flooding through his body and tears of joy forming in his eyes. Finally, after all these years alone, they were together again.
"Welcome home, Moony."
Sirius' whisper finally caused the tears to fall. James smiled as he gently wiped them away.
"Now is not the time to cry anymore. I think we have a hell of a lot to talk about."
Sirius nodded in agreement and took Remus hand. Together they walked down the street, their voices and laughter filling the air.
