I am all atwitter with anticipation.
I've been wanting a new camera for about 3 years now. This past June, after helping
silmaril move, I got into a show & tell conversation with
dglenn & Breno regarding SLRs and the basics of photography. Then after seeing a slide show of silmaril's recent photography, I left that night intrigued and after a few months of research, I decided on my camera.
A Nikon D40 with its 3.0x AF-S DX Zoom-NIKKOR 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G ED II lens. This is a basic lens that comes with the body. I know I am going to want something better realtively soon, just have to figure out what.
I should have the camera in my hands next Wednesday. Then I have to spend sometime learning how to use it, especially since part of the impetus for buying the camera now is my trip to Peru in October. Maybe I'll take a few "how-to" classes through ACE or NVCC.
So beware... I will be carrying this everywhere for a while so I can practice!
