Yesterday I got my first ever speeding ticket. Not that I didn't deserve it ... I was going 73 in a 60. However, the officer was really nice and not demeaning, which helped. He also only wrote me down for going 65, which reduced the cost by a lot. I still had to pay $93 though, which is not cool. However, I'm looking at this in a positive light.
1. It's over - I'm no longer a traffic violation virgin and I know what to expect.
2. It happened at the beginning of the month when I actually have the money to pay for the ticket.
3. It could have been much, much worse (as in the officer could have been rude, he could have written me up for 13 over, and I would have had to pay a much larger fine).
4. Yesterday, September 2, meant that Josh and I are getting married in exactly 13 months. Maybe it's a weird thing to think about, but it made me happy all day. No traffic ticket was going to rain on my parade.
There's always a positive side to things.
