(no subject)
Well hello friends! While I'm sure many of you know, many of you may not! Josh and I are engaged! YAY! :) I will post the same story here as I did on facebook for simplicity purposes. :)
Josh and I were traveling to Vancouver, British Columbia to celebrate the end of tax season from April 24th to April 26th. When we finally got to our hotel we decided to get dressed up to go to a nice dinner - we chose a place called Capones, which is a restaurant and live jazz club. We got done with dinner at about 8:00 p.m., at which point I could have fallen asleep from exhaustion. We walked back to the hotel and decided to get in the hot tub for a little while to relax. After the hot tub we had decided to go back upstairs, order a movie on demand, make some popcorn and drinks and just wind down for the night.
We got back upstairs, put our pajamas on, and started to get everything ready to order the movie. We decided to get The Tale of Despereaux, because it looked like a cute movie to end the evening. I was sitting on the couch in the hotel room getting these things ready (movie, popcorn, drinks), while Josh was on the other side of the hotel room, rummaging through his suitcase, which was on top of the bed.
He then said, "I'm really glad we came on this trip. I love you more than anything and you're the most important person in the world to me." I thought that was a really sweet thing to say, so I got up off the couch and went over to kiss him and reciprocate the affection. I then turned back toward the couch as if to say, "Can we watch the movie now?" when he said, "... which is why ..." I turned back around after the slightest pause and saw him pull a ring box out of his suitcase. I immediately said, "Oh my God..." in anticipation as to what was about to happen. He then got down on one knee, opened the ring box and said, "Will you marry me?"
I was in complete shock! I cried, I said yes, he stood up, and we hugged for a long time. Then he put the ring on my finger, and I stared at it for the rest of the night.
As an added bonus, I found out that Josh had called and asked for my parents' blessing two days before, and had also told his parents that he was going to propose to me.
We are both very excited and cannot wait for October 2010! :)
Ring: 1 carat round-cut nearly colorless diamond set in a 14-karat white gold band.
