As promised, here are some pics from the car show downtown - a solid mile of road lined both sides with antique and classic automobiles from all decades, plus motorbikes, with hot dog stands and popcorn and collectibles stands and the greyhound rescue folks and all the trappings of a fairground, just on the main drag of the biggest city in the state.
It is I'm afraid going to be pretty bandwidth intensive - if you click on the small versions, the full size versions are there and some of them are over 1MB - though I didn't have much time to spend taking really good mediocre ones, but there are a few that came out nice that I'm posting below the cut. (And no, I'm sorry, I didn't have time to stop and chat with any of the owners so I don't know how old or what make/model most of them are. It was pretty much just "Ooh, pretty!" all down the block.)
After I finished everything I needed to do this a.m., I went to take advantage of my 10% Off for email newsletter subscribers coupon at our local Big Chain Bookstore.
I discreetly snapped a couple pictures there, too:
Alas, I forgot to try to get one of the newest Holly Lisle hardcover, but it's right behind where I was standing to take a picture of the endcap, on the new SF hardbacks section between the entrance to the music department and the manga/manhua spinner. Which is pretty good placement in terms of people who are likely SF readers passing through and standing around long enough to notice stuff on the shelves.
)If I ever get my act together enough to sort out the several hundred snapshots on my computer system, I will post the photos I took a couple months ago of the Jedi car, which looks like a battle-worn Republic fighter which was in the parking lot at the drugstore not far from my building - and not to be confused with the "DARKJDI" car belonging to someone a couple blocks from me!)
