(BTW to those who are just coming along, please feel free to continue to respond to it, it's not like it's time-sensitive or anything.)
This reminds me of way back when, when my site was still on Verizon in fact, and I was able to check the incoming browser types, and saw the breakdown of actual users' browsers was very different from the national stats of what was most popular, and saw the segments shift over the course of about a year as alternative browsers like Opera and Mozilla took hold.
I suspected, but wasn't sure, that most people are using bigger than 800 x 600 these days, so it was good to have that confirmed far and away. Granted it's a small sample, but still one rather randomly selected, and as always the One thing I realized after looking at the answers is that I should have put in a "laptop" or "Desktop" choice, because a 13" monitor on a desktop is very different from a 13" laptop LCD, but oh well, live & learn. I was *not* expecting that LCD's would outnumber ye olde cathode ray tube 2 to 1, though.
So now I have a better feel for what people are working on, and some real data not just feelings to back it up, which doesn't mean that I'm going to start stuffing huge post-breaking pictures in every entry, or anything crazy like that, but it does help me when designing things to be viewed on the web, a great deal, and when asked for advice about such things IRL. And everyone else can make what use of this data they please, too - it's a public service!
And now I know how the setup works, so I can use you all as my pawns, my hapless minions in my plan to take over the galaxy inflict other eccentric and bizarre polls on readers in the future, starting now...
