Only words (and some scribbles)
One good thing about having some time off and no way of going anywhere is that (barring migraines and backaches) it allows one to get in some time reading and puttering around on the computer with Christmas presents, including a Wacom Graphire which was a timely replacement for the ancient Aiptek which had finally ceased to function (an alarming thing, when it happens, kind of like having your monitor attacked by digital spiders) last summer, and so a few more "illuminations" dashed off this past week, for readers to download and, hopefully, enjoy.)
The font is Baker Signet for the body copy and Tiepolo for the footers text; Photoshop 4 and Quark 5 used for the typesetting and illos.
--"The Realists," an early retort to those baffled by fantasy and the enthusiasms of fen, pointing out how absurd it is to mandate a classical education and expect students to come away unTouched... (eventually there will be a color version, but I'm not happy with the dragon yet)
--For everyone frustrated by the arrogance and detachedness often found in Serious Academia, a retort in the same mocking spirit as the "scholarly preface" to JRRT's Farmer Giles: "The Scholars" (bw/600K; color version 4.6MB)
--A subversive version of "A Thought from Propertius" (bw pdf, 900K). I've been wanting to do something with that Dover graphic for years...
--As requested, "Oil & Blood" (full color, 4.6 MB; bw pdf, 120K) - D, it's changed a little even since the version you saw, tinkering still.
Probably some more later, tho' not necessarily today.
