Male "chivalry" was always a myth...and now I finally understand that scene in the movie Gandhi when he tells his old pal the English cleric that they need to do it themselves, without outside "help", now. (Although I've never in all my years of reading heard any noise in the wider world, nor even in the sfnal one, that would have led me to realize that Moorcock and Ellison had been out there in the trenches fighting for my human rights right there with Gloria Steinem and Margaret Atwood and Chan Davis, if they hadn't told me so themselves...)
