After several months of having the overall feeling of "blah", my mood is changing and I'm feeling better.
Work has been picking up. Which is to say, there's always a good amount of it. Seemingly limitless Hideout work and lately a nice mixture of other things. Variety is definitely the spice of my life. I've done some designs, photo shoots, paintings, and film and commercial shoots that I feel good about.

Mini-paintings from earlier this year (made for two arts fundraisers):
I've decided to spent most of January and part of February in Seoul, South Korea to research and work on a new painting series - a continuation of my food painting work. Current title is "Seoul Food: Paintings from the Heart of South Korea". While I'm there I'll take LOTS of photos of food I encounter and consume, archive them, blog about the experience, make small sketches and studies, and paint several smaller pieces. When I am back in my studio in Austin I'll be able to tackle the larger pieces and by May or June I hope to have a new body of work. Very exciting!
I have a Big Cartel shop up and running to accept commissions ahead of time:
http://tastypaintings.bigcartel.com/category/original-paintings I hope to also make a new series of prints. I have a printer here in Austin that makes beautiful prints, and from a short distance they look very close to the original. Pretty cool. I already have ideas for the LARGE works and somehow, I feel like they make a lot of sense. I've been experimenting with larger pieces and I think they've all worked out well so far.
It looks like I'll be abroad a lot in 2014, mostly for improv-related trips. But holy hell, that's amazing.
2013 has been such a challenging year, but I am emerging more determined than ever to keep moving and keep creating.
