2012, you've been an amazing year. You had some definite lows, some scary lows, yes. But, you also presented me with so many opportunities to stretch parts of myself I was both aware and unaware of.
This year I was in a super bowl commercial, had my first solo painting show (Food Porn at the SVT Gallery), painted a mural in 12 hours for the
Fusebox Festival, played in The
Hideout Theatre's Process, Manhattan Stories, and Austin Secrets shows, helped produce and run numerous shows and events in town including the Ladies Are Funny Festival, Improvised Play Festival, 43-Hour Improv Marathon, OOB and so much more. I had a part in an admirable film, Thank You A Lot. I traveled to the UK, South Korea, China, and Japan to teach and perform improv and made dozens of new international friends, I took an anniversary trip with
Roy Danger, the love of my life, to Northern California.
I got some great accolades, nominations for Austin Critics Table and B. Iden Payne awards as well as Best of Austin awards for Best Actor and Most Innovative Improv Troupe. I have now published a piece of writing (in this week's
Austin Chronicle) and was wowed with an amazing cover spread to boot. 2013 is already half-way planned out and is bringing a host of new challenges and delights from new paintings to scripted theatre to more world travels to who knows what.
I can't wait to share another year with you, lovely friends and family. Let's do this!
