I love Bobby! Adore the observations and bits about the boys he picks up, his close relationship with Dean shining through. Beautifully shown, and the conversation at the end was wonderful, as Dean spoke to Bobby for the first time. Sam punching out Dean because he thought Dean had left her to burn - ouch, and his reluctance to drink the holy water was great!

Really enjoyed the furthering tales of this 'verse - though the best line was Bobby realising it was going to be one of 'those conversations' when Dean jammed his hands in his pockets! Love to see more of this Bobby and Dean, and to find out just how they bonded. Also - who gave Dean the car??!!

Yeah, I didn't realize how tight this Bobby and Dean would be until I actually sat down to write. I love their canon relationship, though, so it's not really surprising that it bled throguh, here. . . .

Poor Dean! The image of him trying to work a hunt without talking is gonna stay with me for a long time. And Sam blaming him for the fire...awww, boys! Killing me here!

Bobby is perfect - his usual crotchety self mixed with affection for Dean. Loved the scene at the end, his reaction to Dean finally speaking.

My favorite line: Might as well change his sign to "Singer Auto Self Service Yard and Mute Retreat".

The "mute retreat" line snuck up on me, but I love it, too. And I think, deep down, Sam knew that the fire wasn't Dean's fault, but the trauma of witnessing that scene without prior knowledge of the supernatural -- he had to lash out at someone, and Dean would let him.

I am really liking the pattern you've established here of "outside" viewpoints looking at this remarkably interesting version of the boys. Bobby rules! And I adore this: The finger wiggling became somehow petulant - hee, Dean!

My original imagining of this world was entirely from Dean and Sam's POVs, but I'm realizing as I go that it's actually more interesting when told from the outside. I'm glad that's working for you, as well.
