How quickly they forget...

Yesterday, Sunday, was my mum's fifth anniversary. In proper Irish tradition we put the notice in the newspaper and in it we gave the church and the time of the anniversary mass.
My mum has four sisters, two brothers, and from that I have 18 cousins, some of whom are now married and have thier own kids. My dad has two sister and a bother, and from that side I have three cousins.
With that there are my mum's freinds and our neighbours that lived beside her for over 30 years.
So you would think a lot of people came to the mass, yeah?
There was my dad, my brother, me, my brother's girlfriend and my best freind. That was it. (My other sister and brother live in England so they couldn't be there.)

When my mum died she had one of the biggest funerals in Ross cos she knew so many people.

Now the only people that care are two people who came because they care about my brother and I.

Five years isn't that long, not long enough for everyone to give up. I know it's a mass and not everyone goes to mass, but neither do I. I go one day a year cos it's what my mum would have wanted for her memorial. And it's only 40 flippin minutes.

How can they forget her like this? Fucking hypocrites the lot of them. I don't know why I'm surprised. It's not like anyone ever asks how we are. Should we be ok five years later? Well screw them. I'll never forget my mum. Never.

I wish I had a photo to post... they're all back at the old house. Someday I will.

journal, mum
